  1. I realize change is sometimes necessary, but I have a few concerns/complaints: -Do they really need TWO Dumbo rides? -Couldn't they have kept Snow White's Scary Adventures and have the mine train go over/under/behind it? -Couldn't they have kept one side of Mr. Toad?If it's not "culturally relevant" then just re-broadcast "The Wind In The Willows" on all those networks Disney owns now and upgrade the ride's scenery. And I call BS like a MF when they say the ride's end isn't family friendly:I first rode it when I was around 10 years old with my father, and we got a good laugh out of the idea of "dying" and "going to hell".
  2. The good thing about staying open till midnight is getting the chance of having the FF attractions be walk-ons!
  3. I think it was the companies that bought the Six Flags company that screwed things up.Some examples:Bally's-who bought the chain and stuck video arcades at exit ramps and Time Warner-who although built some well-themed rides-had no experience running a live, seasonal operation.
  4. I know this is an old topic, but I like to take pictures and video of the various parks I go to.I still prefer actual film-based pictures(though it's getting hard to find places to develop them)and the amount of pictures I take depends on a couple of factors:if it's a park I've never been to or one I haven't been to a while, and if there's something interesting enough to film-like a new ride,show,event(FF/Haunt)or backstage tour.Heck I still have backstage pictures of Chiller hidden somewhere!
  5. From what I've been told over the years is that SFA wasn't allowed to by the county government:back in the Wild World days they(local gov.)said there was too much noise, traffic, and supposed gang activity involved with thepark being open late. Fortunately it seems like those days are over, since the park IS now allowed to be open later during FF.
  6. I agree with the aforementioned statement that at THAT TIME being bought up by SF was a good thing.Back then SF was content with running a handful of parks that each had it's own uniqueness;when Tierco/Premiere Parks took over, everything seemed to fall apart.
  7. Although it wasn't Disney-quality,I still think the parade was fairly well done. And it did seem to shorten the lines for the rides !!
  8. The commercial is on the BGW fansite!!!Now if only I can find some old SF Power Plant & Atlantis commercials.....
  9. I actually got to go on that tower during the ACE Preservation event in 2007-was there any reason why it began to sway like that?
  10. SFA just found out that some long-term restrictions-most importantly the 200-foot-high rule and staying open past 10PM-have basically been lifted. For all the details just go to www.sfafans.com. When I heard that SFA now had the option of going over 200 feet-and staying open later-I was ecstatic !!!!!Now the park can "re-invent" itself by having some of those "wish list" rides and events(skytower,Fright Fest till midnight).
  11. What coaster(s) were actually used for this commercial? In some scenes it looks like KI's Racer, others KD's RY.....
  12. I've got an idea for Congo River Rapids! They slightly alter the name and theme to "Movietown Rapids" and the ride divided into sections. The load station is the first section where the riders are told they are "stuntpeople" for some new adventure movie and they need "one last shot".The rest of the rapids ride is broken up somewhat into different segemnts(depending on how elaborate they are willing to get):various props set up around&over the flume can have the ride start off as a "Jurassic River" with fake dinosaurs on the riverbanks&Pteradactyls overhead, and end up as "Wild West River" with Grizzly bears and Desperados nearby.
  13. I think a new ride should be ready by opening day, mostly because they start advertising it in late winter;however if there is some unforseen obstacles(weather, technical issues) then they should have it up and running by Memorial Day.
  14. Does anyone remember the original commercial for Big Bad Wolf?It was basically a "mini horror movie" featuring a guy walking thru a forest, being followed by "something";I don't think it's on youtube-anyone else know about it?
  15. Wasn't MM's Batman black and grey?Would Great Adv. consider such a color combo? And how about bringing back the cop car "mister" in the queue?
  16. I need to add Scream Machine to the top of my list of missed defunct rides.....
  17. As far as major rides go,I would chose an observation tower,an interactive dark ride and a suspended monorail.Although I would prefer an actual steam train going around the park,I think an Intamin monorail would be easier to "retrofit" into the park-not to mention the cool visual (on-ride and off) of the suspended trains with "floor-to-ceiling" windows.
  18. It was one thing getting rid of GASM(old ride, bankrupted maker, etc) but Bizarro is still a perfectly good ride.Great Adv. should take its time getting major rides-BGW certainly does .
  19. How about they build a "Lost Adventures" area-like "Lost Kennywood" but with Freefall and Movietown Water Effect? They could even get that Arrow shutle loop from Indiana that's still for sale !!!!But seriously, they could have a Great Adv. "museum" like Magic Mt. does and display old maps/signs/blueprints,etc..
  20. Despite its age,I thought GASM could've lasted longer.I could be wrong, but I still think getting new Vekoma trains would've improved the ride experience.
  21. They need to bring back the old Great Adv. logo and get rid of those headrests!-and the seatbelts&dividers too!!!!
  22. Aahhh,Viper-The Drachen Fire of Great Adventure !!!!!Actually it seemed tolerable at first, but it certainly didn't age well:the last couple of years it stood,I could only manage like 1 ride per season.Anyone else remember when the old Coaster Celebration(s) actually had SCHEDULED ERT on Viper? :rolllaf:
  23. I've got some pictures of Chiller from a backstage tour in 2000,during the old Coaster Celebration days....I still haven't transered those pictues to disc yet!!!.....
  24. I live near SFA,and all we got was alot of rain and some gusting winds.I just went on rcdb.com and they've already got Casino's Star Jet and all of Funtown's coasters listed as destroyed by the hurricane. So sad...I've been making "side trips" to the Jersey Shore&Seaside Heights for over 12 years now,and now alot of it is gone.Any chance they're going to rebuild any of it?
