  1. Sometimes I wish this ride was still around so people could see how bad it really was .
  2. This may have been some type of "rip-off" attraction before George Lucas had copyrighted everything up the wazoo:I remember back in the 1970's around Halloween time costume stores having "Star Wars"-ish masks with names like "Dark Invader" and "Golden Robot" .
  3. The Texas and Georgia parks have some legal stipulation that SF uses part of the budget to maintain things like landscaping and themeing-why can't the company implement that chain-wide?I myself am an enthusiast of not just coasters but parks in general:tall, fast multi-loopers and woodies get my attention, but having a varied selection of rides is a HUGE asset in keeping my interest,as well as having other seemingly inconsequential amenities like trees, shows,a pot-hole free parking lot....
  4. Did Six Flags get a discount or package deal from Larson Rides?Because Great Adv.,SFA,and SFOG are all getting the same ride at the same time....I think SFA would have been better off getting the Led Zepplin coaster ......
  5. Didn't Warner intend to have his multiple parks connect with each other via various skyrides/monorails/paddleboats?I think it was shown in his original design.....
  6. Here's some names/colors I used on RCT2: Nitro=Drachen Fire,all-blue track B:TR=either Vampyre or Banshee(although KI just "stole" my idea),all-black track Green Lantern=either NorEaster or White Squall, blue supports with white track S:UF=Jersey Devil, brown supports with green track Medusa=Sasquatch,all-brown track
  7. That's what I was thinking!!It seems like for every Medusa that comes along, there's at least one Viper.
  8. I think Great Adv. (and SF as a whole)should develop a partnership(s) with the various performing arts schools/colleges in Philadelphia & NYC.The principals & teachers could be hired during the summer as choreographers/bandleaders/etc and the students who completed X-amount of credits would earn a spot in their chosen area. At the very least Great Adv. should take some pointers from SFA-SFA recently won a Golden Ticket award for Best Stunt Show !!
  9. I preferred the left side also. The right side was good, but to me the right side's turnaround seemed a little too jarring for me.
  10. What are you worried about? It's being done by INTAMIN-not TOGO or Vekoma !!!!!Just remember -Inatmin COULD have attached it to the parachute tower instead!!
  11. As far as monkeys go,I wish Great Adv. would replicate what The Monkey Jungle in Miami had:a chain-link "tunnel" that people could walk through while squirrel monkeys crawled over it.It was amazing!
  12. Although I would like a show in the stunt arena,I wouldn't mind them tearing it down for a different attraction like a 4D simulator or shoot-'em-up ride.
  13. How about a place like SFSt.L?-a mostly open spot that's got a ravine "in back" (where their first woodie dives into)?
  14. Technically I would prefer mostly level ground for a park, although, knowing what I know now, having a hilly site can be a good thing:just look at BGW's placement of LNM & BBW(now Verbolten).
  15. RT-as well as most coasters from the 70's-should be considered a MODERN classic, meaning it was built in the 70's during the "renaissance era" started by KI's Racer, yet still had hallmarks of the "old school" rides(airtime hills, skid brakes,LAPBARS ONLY).
  16. I guess I misunderstood-but I still think the exhibit space is better suited for a larger species, like gorillas.
  17. If they re-open the theater are they going to reopen the Old Country area?
  18. Right now if I had $50 million I would rebuild Rolling Thunder in it's old spot, but with that "Topper Track" stuff, and use trains that only need lapbars. Then I would hire Gordon Ramsey to give the foodservice dept. the "Kitchen Nightmare" treatment. .
  19. I asked about that myself back in 2011 and was told that the tiger show was intended to be temporary, and were moved to the Safari to get more people out to that section.Personally I greatly miss the "face-to-face" aspect of the tiger show&exhibit and wish they would bring it back-unless they want to use it for PANDAS !!
  20. It's a terrible shame..that area around Funtown Pier had some cool places burn up:the Saw Mill bar,the carousel with that arcade with all the old 1980's games....I hope Seaside will still rebuild after this extra setback.
  21. I concur!!!Themeing and atmosphere ARE important-EVEN IF THEY ARE CATERING TO THE TEEN/YOUNG ADULT MARKET.Cleanliness and courtesy maybe vital to families, but even high school kids won't tolerate or respect the "world's tallest/fastest/loopiest/etc"ride if they're paying $20 or more to park in a pothole-filled lot and others are cutting in line.
  22. I know that things change over the years, and even Disney is willing to demolish classic rides(ex:Snow White),but I agree with Silvermom05:I feel like Great Adv. & myself have lost a friend. Just hours ago I noticed that HALF THE RIDES I rode less than 15 years ago ARE NOW GONE:Viper,Chiller(which I count as 2 rides),GASM,SMFF,and now RT-as well as Poland Springs Plunge,Movietown Water Effect,Space Shuttle....is "out with the old,in with the newer, taller, faster" always the best way to go?
  23. I don't see why they have to tear down Rolling Thunder so the drop tower can have a walkway. And another thing-did RT really need those seat belts and headrests?Maybe more people would have ridden it......
  24. Although I like the idea of using Kingda Ka's structure for the new drop tower,do they really need to take down Rolling Thunder? The article says that RT has "dwindling popularity";first of all, didn't they say the same thing about Medusa, hence the rethemeing? And what if in another 10+ years KK and it's Siamese twin drop ride obtain "dwindling popularity"?I know coasters cost serious money to maintain and operate, but first it was GASM and now RT-basically coasters that turned Great Adv. into a coaster mecca. P.S.-Is Great Adv. willing to replace RT with an Intamin version of the triple racer that was at Port Arthur,Texas?
  25. It's unfortunate you had that happen at my home park, but remember-most parks near major cities(unfortunately) attract some bad people;even family-centered parks like Disneyland and KBF have had gang incidents.Hopefully we all could work together to prevent further travesties.
