  1. whoops! posted on the wrong topic. Sorry.
  2. I think the wait times were due to one train running or slow to load\unload
  3. So far I like new england. I have only been to america great adventure and new england. I want to go to all of them
  4. I will miss it as a classic to the park. As far as "classic" woodies go, rolling thunder does not fit in that category. I think of older coasters like the cyclone at six flags new england and all the woodies at kennywood. The comet at Hershey park. They were all built like in the 30s and 40s and had a better ride than rolling thunder. For some reason, coasters built in the 70s weren't built as well as the older ones. There are some exceptions though
  5. i am scared to death of this ride! i get nervous just thinking of it!!! But i will go on! Who knows, i might love it. if not, i dont have to go on ever again.
  6. I think its more of a "record breaker" than anything else. Great Adventure loves breaking records and it draws massive crowds. Look at Kingda ka. It's still attracting people. And with 2 record breaking rides together, it just might work! I hope with the increased revenue, they will fix up the rest of the park before any other major project. We can have one season with nothing new if that means other things will be fixed. (parking lot, security)
  7. I hope they remove the paintball building. It is in the way and really serves no purpose. People will walk through the boardwalk anyway to go on superman, green lantern and to access the golden kingdom. Reopen dreamstreet!!
  8. Look at all the people on the 1st level. That area is basically empty now. So sad. Still that back deck is my favorite place to eat.
  9. Maybe they closed it because the seasonal employees left and they need what employees they do have elsewhere? I dont know but i'm sure there's a reason behind it. i would like to hope so anyway
  10. i voted yes because i have been to some privately owned parks and even tho they have that "old feeling", they need a lot of fixing up which they really cant afford on the money they make. Great Adventure gets tons of money they otherwise wouldn't have if it wasn't for Six Flags. On the flip side though, Great Adventure could do what they wanted and wouldn't have to adhere to any corporate standards. I feel that the great location of Great Adventure would have made it very prosporous on it's own!
  11. i will try it! i never liked drop towers, and i am a coaster freak! I will try everything at least once. I am terrified tho. Just going up on a regular drop tower is scary, i can only imagine this one. You will be able to see the skyline of philadelphia on a clear day! Just thinking about it i'm getting nervous!!!
  12. yeah.. i was looking to get a cedar fair platinum pass since i was going to kings island and cedar point. It was $200 cheaper just to get a 2 day pass that included both parks. I goto Great Adventure about 10-15 times. Just going a few times pay for it. Now that parking is included on the gold pass, i will definetly be getting it!
  13. hydra is unique that is has a twist right when you leave the station, i was also surprised by the drop. You feel the drop more on hydra. Bizarro is definetly better! I miss the smooth ride of Medusa. Age probably has something to do with it though.
  14. yea, i have a season pass also and was wondering the same thing. I'm going to go regardless though
  15. I think thats a problem in most businesses. These people may have master degrees and business or business experiance, but you need amusement experience. Owning a restaurant is completely different than running an amusement park. Corporate runs everything from an office and from ideas on paper. Have the ceo spend a day in the park, BY HIMSELF, dressed normally, and see how it is run. Most employees at the park probably wouldn't recognize him and will treat him accordingly. They also HAVE to listen to the people. Afterall, we make them money.
  16. they can refuse to let people in, but if most of those people just happen to be a certain ethnicity, then thats grounds for discrimination by racial profiling. Its tough because you want to attract more people to make more money. The park needs to do that in order to survive. Unfortunately, bad people will always be in that mix
  17. when will we be able to see the plans for this new path and area? Maybe a coaster cant go in the same footprint as rolling thunder, but a new coaster means that they can build it around the new path. the coaster could head right towards el toro while the path heads left towards kingda ka. the path would only have to cross the track once
  18. we need better security. the last time a reported a line jumper, the guard said that he will follow them around and make sure it doesnt happen again. Thats not the policy. There will always be trouble makers, thrill rides seem to attract those people. We need to deal with them by removing them from the park IMMEDIATELY. When there's trash, you clean it up!
  19. it all comes down to money. They want to add more attractions so they can bring in more people. What they are forgetting, with more people comes more wear and tear on the park's infrastructure. Before more rides are added that will attract huge crowds, the park needs to be able to deal with more people.
  20. never been on voyage. it looks nice though. it's longer than el toro, which is always good.
  21. Yea...I'm pretty sure the late announcement was intentional. They knew we would want to save it. If they wanted space to make more family rides, theres the whole other section of the park, already built and paved, closer to the entrance (children wouldn't have to walk as far) that could be used for family rides. I agree 100% with expanding the park, we have a lot of land to work with. We need more flats. If you dont like rollercoasters, what else is there to do?
  22. A disabled person needs to read up on any information regarding their disability. They need to see what accommodations if any the park has. Prosthetic limbs are not allowed on nitro. He says he went on all the coasters before but the employees might have over looked it. If the prosthetic limb came off, it could hurt somebody. Then you would have another lawsuit. So if this guy wins, can large people sue for not being able to ride nitro or el toro?
