  1. The left side has been closed on almost all my visits in 2008, and of course all trips this year since of the work being done. I prefer the left side.
  2. I got into the station for my 2nd RMT ride when they were cleaning down the train with the lysol. They didn't let anyone board that car (all 3 rows) for 1 circuit. I wonder what the deal was with the banana costumes. I skipped RT this trip because I saw it was going out with full trains and didn't feel like waiting 10 - 15 minutes for even a 2 or 3 train wait.
  3. I felt like it was Family Fall Fun Night all over again, the big decision to go to the park or not with the weather forecast saying a 70% chance of thunderstorms. Since some people said it wasn't raining in Jackson at 3:30, I decided to take the chance and drive up to the park. It was pouring the whole drive until I got close to Jackson where it was drizzling. There were a ton of busses in the parking lot, not many cars maybe 100 at the most. The closed ride board was interesting to see since a lot was closed, including all of Bugs Bunny National Park. KK was running so I went to Nitro first. 3 trains running but because there were so many kids still there from Physics Day and Music In The Park it was a little over 10 minutes. I was kind of annoyed at all the kids there since this was supposed to be for Season Passholders only and I was afraid it could start storming at any minute causing the rides to close and a lot of the kids were cutting and others were running around the park like it was a marathon. The line then was around 5 - 10 minutes after that. I then realized it maybe wasn't so bad that the schools were there since it might be enough to keep the park open and it wasn't so bad after 6:30 or so. I got 5 Nitro rides in a hour, went to Skull Mountain for a walk on ride and got walk ons at the log flume and Runaway Mine Train (1 train running). Kingda Ka was still closed but I saw some people waiting by the entrance but then the op said it wouldn't be open for another hour or hour and a half so I left. There were some awards for the music event in the Northern Star Arena which really cleared out the park. The parachutes were a 2 minute wait, Superman was a walk on even with 1 train running. GASM had 2 trains running but it wasn't neccessary. The train before me went out empty and the op called it a ghost train and said how he shouldn't have sent it out empty as the minimum riders is 4. I wonder if that is because of Nitro valleying since I never heard them say there was a minimum last year, I had solo rides a few times last year as well. Fly Me To The Moon had no wait and there were only 3 people total in the theater. I went back to RMT and the log flume and decided to check back at Kingda Ka. It was open, 2 trains running but that was more than enough. Even though the back train was 3/4 empty, it was a 3 train wait for the front so I decided to take advantage of that. I forgot how different it feels to ride in the front row with your face almost being pulled. After that I got 2 more rides in the middle of the train, 1 train wait each time. I saw it was a walk on after my 3rd ride but I had enough. I went to The Dark Knight and got 2 rides in and finished the night at Nitro with another 5 rides having to change seats twice including a front row ride that was only a 2 train wait even though they had taken a train off. I'm glad I decided to take the chance and go to the park tonight and it was nice to see the park stay open until 10 as scheduled even though there weren't many people in the park after all the schools left (I think 1 bus stayed until closing) Ride Count: Nitro - 10 Superman - 1 Log Flume - 2 Kingda Ka - 3 Skull Mountain - 1 Parachutes - 1 Fly Me To The Moon - 1 Runaway Mine Train - 2 The Dark Knight - 2 Great American Scream Machine - 1
  4. That might not make it worth it then. Nitro being closed would be the worst.
  5. Right now it looks ok but they are saying storms later. I also agree about the park closing early. There is no way enough people are going to show up for the park to stay open. I don't know what the number is, but I am guessing it is over 500 (since they closed with less than 500 for Family Fall Fun Night) and it seems unlikely enough people will show up. I don't even care if KK is closed, if I am able to get a ton of rides in 2 hours it would still be worth it for me.
  6. Boardwalk and Baseball was so great. It combined 2 of my favorite hobbies baseball and amusement parks. I was only 7 when I went there but I remember liking it a lot more than the brand new at the time Disney MGM Studios. I wish Great Adventure would have kept one side of the ride as planned. I guess it would have been gone by now anyway but it looks like a cool concept that I would have liked to try.
  7. I guess the park didn't let the parents ride as well? I know a lot of parks won't with this type of ride but some will like Playland's Castaway Cove in Ocean City.
  8. I usually try to avoid the park on concert days since it brings crowds even though I would be interested in some of them. I was at the park last year when Blondie was there (I didn't realize there was a concer that day), but it was crazy how empty the park was. Walk ons for everything even KK. Even the Northern Star Arena was somewhat empty while the show was going on. I guess the 100 degree heat kept everyone away. I usually can't tolerate heat well but I guess because there were no lines so you weren't stuck in line waiting for a ride it wasn't that bad at all.
  9. I also called before I left, was told 5 - 10. I got to the park around 5:15 and a security guard told me they might be closing in an hour. The actual announcement was made at around 6:50 that the park was closing at 7:30, but I still feel bad for people like you who showed up to be turned away. If it is raining on Friday, I'll still call before I leave but I am going to make sure I get there right at 5, so if they close early, it won't be a wasted trip. Now weather.com is saying few showers and 30%, much better than the 50% and thunderstorms they said yesterday and much better than the upper 60's, 80% - 90% chance of rain that they said for Family Fall Fun Night.
  10. Do they usually reschedule these type of events if they cancel it? I know last year when they closed early for Family Fall Fun Night a few people said the reason they couldn't reschedule is because of preparing for Frightfest. Friday May 8th for example looks like it could work, since the park looks like it is only open during the day for physics day? like this upcoming Friday.
  11. I'm going even if it rains lightly, Coasters After Dark and Family Fall Fun Night were 2 of my best trips last season.
  12. I don't understand why people have a problem riding with strangers on the flume as long as you don't sit with a stranger in your section (since there is that divider in the middle of the boat). The bobsled or rides where you are riding in a stranger's lap I can understand. I prefer to ride without strangers but it isn't a big deal to ride with strangers on the flume. I usually get the back of the boat and others get the front half with that seat back/divider.
  13. What I have been surprised was that even in cooler temperatures, like the 50's as it was a few days when the park was opening during the week, it looked to have a 30 minute line at points. I saw some of the boats in that area you can see from Nitro (to the right of the first drop) and a few boats were in the area next to the turntable in that other trought but not being used). I'm just glad it is open even if it isn't at full capacity. I have ridden it every visit so far this season and it is my favorite non coaster ride in the park. The only thing is I wish they would turn off the sprayers until it gets warmer out on a regular basis like maybe from mid May to early September have them on. They haven't been working right (but not closed) but I was always worried I was going to get hit with one of the sprayers when it is so cold out.
  14. I have noticed a lot of gaps in the loading in the log flume, I counted 14 boats last Thursday (4/16). I noticed with the grouping, if the line is short they will let single riders and groups of 2 have their own boat but when the line was longer, they seemed to be putting more people in the boats though it sounds like that wasn't the case yesterday. The line is moving slower this year because of fewer boats, the wait time from the 15 minutes sign is really close to 15 minutes. pashacar, when you say the entire queue was full do you mean just the covered part or the switchbacks outside too? If the outside switchbacks were full I am REALLY glad I didn't go to the park yesterday.
  15. I am so glad to see those timeshare people gone, I was walking into the park last week and they were trying to get me to walk over to their booth. I just said no thanks and walked away.
  16. A Whip is one of the flats I really want to see added to Great Adventure. If Rideworks is still in business (Hershey got theirs from them in 1997), it would be a great addition to the park.
  17. I remember riding this exact type of ride at Fantasy Island in the late 1980's, it was a lot of fun since I had never seen anything like it before. It was nice to see the pictures of Bugs Bunny Land. It seems like it wasn't that long ago that I remember standing where the train was waiting for the rest of my family in the area and watching GASM.
  18. Picture 5 shows how much larger they made preferred parking, does that ever fill up? I never see it that crowded.
  19. Same thing happened last week at Skull Mountain. People in the front row had a camera phone out and the op had to have seen it but dispatched the train anyway. They were taking flash pictures the whole ride which kind of ruined the ride. And speaking of that, what is it with cell phones and rides. On that same ride, as soon as we hit the final brake run, I saw 2 other people take out their phones. On Nitro today I saw someone texting. Maybe it's because it didn't exist when I was a teenager (cell phones were around but few had them) but I just don't get what is so important you have to take a phone out to text on a coaster. I feel so old typing something like that that but I am only in my 20's.
  20. I saw a Spongebob figure in the ride storage area (not exactly sure what it is called but it's where a bunch of ride vehicles are stored and various signs and props) while riding Nitro today. Interesting they held onto it, I really hope they bring it back this season especially if Fly Me To The Moon isn't bringing the numbers they want.
  21. That skeeball is great. 210 is a really low score to earn a prize for. At Dorney it is 300 for a small prize and Hershey is 240 for 2 prize tickets (a small stuffed animal is 2 tickets).

I had nothing to do today so I decided to go to the park yet again today for the 3rd time in less than a week. Thanks to some horrible traffic on the turnpike, I lost close to 30 minutes and didn't get into the park until 3:30. The lot wasn't that crowded and I saw Superman was a walk on. The closed rides board listed Nitro, KK and ET as being closed. Not good, but I saw Nitro was running from outside the park so I went there first. 2 trains running, line was at the 30 minute sign and was around 15 minutes. It's amazing how much faster the line moves with 3 trains compared to 2 but it wasn't that bad, especially since I thought I bet all those people waiting 5 hours for Diamondback yesterday would have gladly waited only 15 minutes. Dark Knight just had a wait to get into the pre-show. I saw a mother arguing with a security guard about not taking jackets in line if they weren't being worn. People in line were watching and were making comments about the locker policy. The one that really stood out was a kid 8 or 9 saying, "Dorney Park has places to leave your stuff, they are nice there." Skull Mountain was a walk on, Blackbeard's was running also a walk on. The skyway was closed all day but not on the closed rides board. Teacups were 1/2 empty. The Log Flume was running with no wait, Runaway Mine train had a 1 - 2 train wait. I heard people pointing to Bizarro saying that is a new ride this year so I guess the marketing calling it a new coaster is working. Toro was running when I walked by, the line was only just down the stairs into the station. Rolling Thunder had slightly faster dispatches today, 3 minutes or so. 1 train wait. GASM was a walk on, the operator at the controls was trying to get everyone to scream and say all clear. Everyone was kind of quiet and she then said "Guys, you are on a rollercoaster, not at a funeral" I got a re-ride and saw a few minutes later they were taking 1 train off the track. I walked into a completely empty station at Superman and got 2 rides. I went back to Skull Mountain and Nitro. Nitro's line was down to a station wait and got 3 more rides in. Other than KK being closed, it was a great day at the park with very low crowds. I thought since it was still Spring Break it would be more crowded but I guess either the cooler weather or it being a school night kept people away and I got a lot of rides in only 3 1/2 hours. Ride Count: Nitro, 5x Skull Mountain, 3x Dark Knight, 1x Teacups, 1x Blackbeards, 1x Log Flume, 1x Rolling Thunder, 1x Runaway Mine Train, 1x GASM, 2x Superman, 2x
  23. I was surprised that even past closing on Thursday night (and it wasn't just past 8, it was closer to 8:20) they had people using the computers and the food area had a line. I would think they'd want people off the computers so they could leave.
  24. At opening I usually go to Kingda Ka first and then Superman since those 2 can build up lines. If I get there later in the day I go to Nitro first since I can always count on it not to have a long line thanks to the great capacity it has.

I could definetly see it happening. Same thing with Wii games. I never understood why people wanted to stand there and play Wii games when you could play video games at home (the arcades are different to me because a lot of arcades games you can't play at home). The only time I could see myself using the computer at the park was just to post some quick information like how crowded the park is. I spend too much time on the computer at home and wouldn't want to waste valueable park time surfing the internet.
