  1. I wish they still offered a silver pass. There is no way I would go on a summer weekend (way too crowded) so I would be ok with getting that type of pass.
  2. Old Country, losing 2 flats was a shame even if they are only SBNO. Plus what park doesn't have bumper cars? Spongebob was a close 2nd though. Fly Me To The Moon is the worst simulator film I have ever seen.
  3. They used to have a full size version of the CP coaster simulator but I haven't seen any in years. It had 6 coasters to choose from rather than Gemini and Blue Streak that the kiddie one has. I'd go to Chuck E Cheese to check it out myself plus I heard they have Pump It Up (DDR type game) but I feel kind of awkward going in there, plus I heard some have rules about having to have a kid with you to enter.
  4. It looks like a really cool ride. I never had the chance to ride it. I never knew what it was until 2006 and it was closed on my only visit in 2007 and of course closed this season. I have been on the Wonder House in Dutch Wonderland which is the same type of ride but this looks even better. I hope it is open next year.
  5. It was starting to have a lot of mechanical problems. It was closed I think all of May and part of June and then closed again in late June/early July. Dorney also kind of considered the ride as a "second thought." Only 1 person checking restraints with the same person loading the train so 5 minute cycles were the norm which meant 336 riders an hour at most and that is only if every seat was filled. Adding seatbelts last year also didn't help. That slowed down loading even more, the ride ran at Dorney for 20 seasons without seatbelts and CF adds them so late? I will really miss it since it was my 3rd favorite coaster in the park after Talon and Steel Force. At least Hershey has SDL which I hope they keep for a long time.
  6. I never saw it because it was removed 5 years before my first trip to WDW. Phillar Magic is very good but I always wanted to see the Mickey Mouse Revue especially since there will always be new 3D/4D films but I don't see anything like Mickey Mouse Revue ever built again.
  7. Nice to see the Laser event went on, it was too bad Dorney handled the last 2 months of Laser's operations horribly. It is also bad to see Voodoo closed all day. I thought they worked out the issues it was having, I guess not. I bought way too much Voodoo stuff, 4 shirts, a hat and a glass. I wonder if they will at least keep the logo.
  8. The only way I see the park not failing is to add more rides and lower prices. $49.99 for the ride selection is horrible. If you don't ride coasters or kiddie rides, 4 or 5 flats and the dark ride. They need to lower admission to $29.99 - $34.99 and add half a dozen more flats and the most important thing, water rides. They have the play area and water coaster but a log flume, rapids or shoot the chutes would really help. Although minor, I really think they need to reconsider some policies. For Led Zepplin, you have to watch the long pre-show everytime you want to ride and it is assigned seating. If you are a local and want to visit on a slow day and power ride, that video will probably get annoying and not being able to sit where you want is bad. Great Adventure has done it right with the preshow for TDK. As much as I hate to watch it, on a slow day once you see it that is it. I have never been not allowed a re-ride on TDK when no one is waiting to ride. If I had to watch the pre-show for every ride, I wouldn't even ride it every visit.
  9. Agreed on all of those, I also went to Haunt on 3 different Sunday's and it was closed on everyone one of those as well. I guess they figured it a regular Sunday in the fall is empty, a Sunday after Halloween would have literally no one there.
  10. I really didn't encounter any crowds at all during Frightfest. Other than around 30 minutes for KK today and 20 minutes for Superman last week all lines I waited in were 15 minutes or less during Frightfest. Maybe because other than today, I only went on Friday nights but overall it wasn't nearly as bad I as I thought it would be since everyone says how horribly crowded Frightfest is.
  11. I can't believe the end of the season is already here. It seems like I was just getting my pass processed in April and riding KK for the first time. This was my first trip to a park in November which was cool. I was afraid the park would be backed today since in past years I read multiple TR's that said full queues and 2+ hour lines were normal for closing day. Maybe the cold weather stopped people or because it was after Halloween and people didn't realize the park was open kept people away but it wasn't that crowded at all, comparable to a Friday Night Frightfest. I got to the park around 1:00 and was glad to see no line of cars to get into the lot like the 40 minutes it took back on an April weekday. First ride of the day was Nitro. 3 trains running and just crowded enough that you had to walk around each time rather than stay on. Someone's drink was thrown in the trash from the train that arrived in the station when I was waiting for the back row. The op said to them since nothing can be left in the station, we threw it out. The riders got it out of the trash. The ops couldn't have left it to the side? Especially because I think the person at the entrance wasn't enforcing no loose articles as I saw someone take a pocketbook with them on the ride. Skull Mountain had some maintenance door open near the top of the building which caused the entire ride area to be visible, even more than the strobes. You could clearly see the entire track layout the entire ride. I also discovered that near the bottom of the first drop, there is some Tiki Mask on the wall in neon colors that I never saw before, I guess because with no lights on it, you can't see it normally. Despite being on the closed rides board, Medusa was open. 3 trains running but horrible stacking and double stacking making the 3rd train worthless. The signs about the ride changing got a bunch of people talking. Kingda Ka only had 2 trains running earlier and looked like it was at least an hour, it later went to 4 trains and was a little less than a half hour. Superman also had about a 25 - 30 minute line earlier in the day but by 7:00 was a walk on. Scream Machine only had 2 trains but 3 were not needed as it was a walk on all day. The Dark Knight was a 5 minute wait to get into the pre-show room. 2 girls behind be were going to ask an op what kind of ride it was and if it went upside down. I explained to them that it was a wild mouse and only had a few small drops. They went back for another ride but again, way too many people think it is a thrill ride (not their fault though). I tired the parachutes for the first time today. I don't see how only 1 side can ever be running since they had 2 sides running today and it took over 10 minutes with maybe 20 people in line. There were tons of sales all over the park. The Souvenir bottles were $3.99 with $0.99 refills but since you have to put them in a locker, I didn't bother, which is the same reason I never got one all season. Popcorn or Cotton Candy buckets were down to $4.99. Many shops had everything in them for 50% off. I was going to get a couple of shirts but sizes were very limited (basically 1 or 2 sizes). Nitro - 5 Superman - 2 Medusa - 2 Kingda Ka - 1 Skull Mountain - 3 Rolling Thunder Right - 1 Runaway Mine Train - 3 The Dark Knight - 1 Blackbeard's Lost Treasure Train - 1 Great American Scream Machine - 2 Tango - 1 Skyway - 2 Parachutes - 1
  12. I thought crowds would be on the lighter side since all it sounds like all Friday's have been not that crowded and I'm sure lots of people had other plans tonight. Medusa looks so strange with blue track.
  13. South of the Border is a definition of a tourist trap to me. I rememer around 5 or 6 years ago we stopped to use the restrooms there and everything was so run down and in bad shape. There was actually a wedding going on at the hotel. Even if the coaster they had was running, I don't think I would trust it. Still, I always look forward to seeing it since it means we are over half way to WDW.
  14. I remember that commerical. There was no way I was going to ride Medusa back in 1999 (I only rode RMT and RT then, not Skull Mountain since I thought it went upside down!), but I remember hearing how someone at school waited 3 hours during that summer. I also remember walking by the ride that year and seeing a huge line.
  15. Carnival Games was fun on the Wii (not so much on the DS), but got boring kind of fast. I am going to get this game but no way am I paying $39.99 for it. When it drops to under $10, I'll get it.
  16. If they don't already, I think the park should offer day passes on days the hotel is not sold out to increase the money coming in. I never looked into staying there but I did look into Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos and spending close to $300 a night or $75 a person (with taxes) just didn't seem that appealing to me when I can spend $86 and have access to Wildwater Kingdom all summer (and Dorney of course). If they had sold day passes for under $25, I would have considered going since it would be a nice way to break up the offseason. I can see why they did this though, how busy could they have been during the week when school is in session?
  17. Maybe it just happened to have a long line at that time? I was at Medusa around 8:30 and it was a station wait but lines were very strange that night. The lot wasn't that crowded at all and Nitro had a 40 minute wait about an hour before closing when Batman was 2 - 3 train wait (the line for Nitro got down to under 15 minutes a little later but it still was weird).
  18. I am hoping the discount increases for the final weekend. I didn't really like either Medusa shirt but for 75% off or more, I might be convinced to get one for collectible reasons.
  19. Very nice, if they can have that rule, I don't see why Hershey can't as well (with I guess select coasters). If it goes on in 2009, I know I would consider driving 6 hours just to get an offseason coaster fix.
  20. I can't believe how horrible the Carousel is. I rode it twice this season and to see it with all the cracked/chipped paint and condition of the horses really was a shame. I was hoping they would fix it up during the offseason. I rode it at 2 different times last night. The first time, there was no music. The Skull figure and pumpkin in the helix were lit up but the other pumpkin which is never lit up wasn't lit up. The strobes also worked. The 2nd time, there was no music, the skull and pumpkin were still lit but the strobes didn't go off when they normally do (little hill right before the brake run). They did go off while the train was sitting right out of the station while the other train loaded. It's strange the props would be lit part of the night and not lit other parts of the night.
  21. Yeah it wasn't noticeable. It wasn't until my 3rd ride on Batman that I saw it. Going up the lift I was thinking, "wow, they moved the spider again"
  22. The Dark Knight because it is indoors so no worrying about it being hot or cold outside.
  23. There was some Nintendo park in Japan but I think it was a temporary thing. Even if it wasn't, since there is nothing Nintendo related in the US, I think they would allow it.
  24. I never saw the ride operate but I only went to the park a few times when it was there. It looks like it was a fun ride and I wish they could try to get it running again.
  25. If it is a Mat Racer, I'd like to see one that does something other than just a bunch of drops. Aqua Racer at Dorney is fun but it's a really short ride. The one at Blizzard Beach is great, not the one that is also just drops but the one next to it like a bobsled type course with lots of turns.
