I'm surprised that it still doesn't have on ride photos with the other 3 B&M's having them and even more that GASM has photos and I have never seen anyone buy one from that ride as opposed to say Nitro where I always see people at the photo booth.

Home Movie of Great Adventure from around 1983

That old sign looks really cool, I wish they would have kept using it. -
At least it is almost half over.

Jackson Planning Board Meeting Jan. 5th. 2009
Yoshi replied to Railer's topic in The Future of the Park
It's a shame to hear no new rides, I guess that means the rumored Hurricane Harbor addition isn't happening either. -
Anheuser-Busch InBev Stops Flow Of Free Beer At Parks
Yoshi replied to GAcoaster's topic in Industry News
While this move personally won't effect me since I don't drink, I can see a lot of people getting upset with this. When I was last at Sea World in 2004, the free beer was very popular (lines were huge). -
Is Medusa the best coaster to "redesign"?
Yoshi replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in The Future of the Park
I chose GASM, since it seems to be the least popular of the major coasters in the park and could use some upgrades to get more people to ride. First thing they could do is get those new Vekoma trains with the better restraints that the Boomerang at Carowinds is getting. I'm not sure what else could be done, but I'm sure SF could come up with something. -
Other than the fact capacity would probably be horrible, I'd like to see Great Adventure get Slippery When Wet. Rollersoaker is so popular at Hershey and I'm sure the ride would be just as popular at Great Adventure. Plus it would give the park another water ride and another family ride.

I never was able to ride Freefall and I wish I would have. I didn't find out I like drop towers until the end of 2006 (I was always hesitant to try them because a fast moving elevator can make me dizzy, so I thought a drop tower would be worse) and it Freefall looks so cool because it isn't being controlled with cables or air pressure. I wish it would have stayed at least another season.

Day 24 - A Six Flags Holiday in the Park Event!
Yoshi replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in 2008 Great ADVENTure Calendar
This one is probably the most important one. It is so fusturating to read about how Fiesta Texas, Over Texas, Discovery Kingdom and Magic Mountain are all open and Great Adventure is closed. If they kept admission reasonable maybe under $20, and lowered parking to $10 or less (like how Hershey charges $6 parking for their event instead of the usual $10), and even had just not all of the park open it would be great as long as there was at least a few coasters open. Hershey's event is fun but to me, it is just a "diversion" to break up the off season but really doesn't feel the same as a regular park visit without a coaster open and I would like to see Great Adventure to show Hershey that you need more thrill rides/coasters open. -
I hope it stays that warm this weekend. They are saying Sunday will be 53 with a 30% chance of rain, I am hoping to go to Hershey and have already been told we aren't going if it is cold out (under 45 I guess)

Day 23 - Restore the Carousel
Yoshi replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in 2008 Great ADVENTure Calendar
Yes, this really needs to be done. I rode the carousel twice this season and couldn't belive the horrible condition it was in. Chipped and cracked paint on most if not all the horses and the paint was completely gone in some spots. It is a disgrace to have it in that condition. -
Day 20- Rehab and Add More To Skull Mountain
Yoshi replied to GAcoaster's topic in 2008 Great ADVENTure Calendar
Thanks, hopefully I'll be able to see it next season if I am lucky enough to get a ride where there is a lot of light in the building. I really should have asked if I could get a lights on ride during one of the 3 or 4 rides I had this past season where I was the only one on the train but I wasn't sure if they are allowed to do that or not. -
Six Flags Rollercoaster Cuts Opening in 2009
Yoshi replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in Industry News
Is that over 54" rule on the website a joke or are they serious? If anyone over 54" can't go in without someone under 54", that basically limits it to kids 8 - 9 or under. -
Day 22- Bring a New Water Ride to the Park
Yoshi replied to GAcoaster's topic in 2008 Great ADVENTure Calendar
I would really like to see a Splash Battle ride, they look like a lot of fun and it would give the park something different that no one else has. Plus it looks like a great family ride. -
I have only stayed at All Star Sports, Music and Coronado Springs neither of which I really liked too much and haven't stayed on property since 2000 since you can get a much larger room for the same price. I voted for the Contemporary since it has always been my favorite resort. It looks so cool and it is neat how the monorail runs through the building and the few times I have been there (mostly to go to a restaurant) and explored the hotel, it was always fun. I'd really like to say there one day.

Day 20- Rehab and Add More To Skull Mountain
Yoshi replied to GAcoaster's topic in 2008 Great ADVENTure Calendar
I never even knew those masks existed until closing day when they had some door open at the top of the building which let tons of light in and saw the one near the first drop. Do you know where the other one is located? I always like to look around for stuff while on the ride. -
Being in the park when it is not crowded, the emptier the better Going along with that, also being the only one on a coaster train Power riding the B&M coasters in the park Looking at all the various ride parts while riding Nitro that are to the right of the ride near the first drop Going to the arcades (especially the Boardwalk Game Center) since I have none near me except family entertainment centers that don't have good games Walking through the Golden Kingdom and noticing all the details Trying to notice all the props in Skull Mountain that are sometimes not visible due to the darkness like the tiki mask near the first drop

Morey's has one, Gillian's had one as well but I think you are right that is likely Great Adventure's

Day 2 - New signs for the Safari sections
Yoshi replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in 2008 Great ADVENTure Calendar
I didn't realize how nice the signs used to look, they really look bad in comparison to how they were originally. The big bear sign really is noticeable with both pictures next to each other. -
I really don't like how the mailer says best price of the season and then they have the sale. They did the same thing last year with saying $79.99 was the lowest price of the season and then they were $59.99 during that 1 day sale. That is why I waited again this year rather than buying it at the park in the fall. By the time shipping was thrown it it was $127.xx for the 2 park pass with parking, so I only saved about $8 versus buying it at the park at $84.99 plus parking but I was glad to get some kind of discount.

Day 17 - Open the Old Country
Yoshi replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in 2008 Great ADVENTure Calendar
I would really like to see this happen. What park doesn't have bumper cars? Even if they only opened the rides back up and kept the games area closed, it couldn't cost that much, could it? -
Day 15 - Add a New Flying Wave Ride
Yoshi replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in 2008 Great ADVENTure Calendar
Yes, it seems like such a staple ride and it really needs to be replaced. Like you said, almost every park has a swing ride, even small shore parks. -
Great Adventure's Now-Defunct Rides

Sarajevo Bobsled, bobsled coasters look like such a unique ride and I really want to try one. -
Six Flags Holiday in the Park Celebrations
Yoshi replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in Trip Planning
Yeah it would have been nice to see it, especially a day like today where it got up to 73 degrees! -
I really wish it was still at the park. I have only been on the City Jet at Gillian's which looks like a smaller version of the Jumbo Jet. Although short, the City Jet was a great ride especially since it had no restraints until they had an accident with their Wild Mouse and added seatbelts to the City Jet. It's a shame so many Schwarzkopf coasters are not around anymore.
