  1. With RT closing on the 8th and ET being closed right now, would there be any reason for that entire section to be open? Well except for Tango...???
  2. I only rode it twice this year and my kids and I really enjoyed it. (can't remember which side we rode). Werent they working on the tracks earlier this year? Seems strange if they were going to remove it. So it sounds like this reasoning came up during the summer. I really wish they would (and could) keep this classic. There is something about an up and back coaster I enjoy. After riding Wild One at SFA and Cyclone in CI this year with my kids, we really enjoy these classics. I like the idea of Zumanjaro for next year. And even though i'm scared of heights I will try it out.
  3. Ive been on 143 and my 15 yr old daughter has been on 122. She actually hit 100 when she was 10 years old (thanks to a MAXX season pass to Dorney and a trip to Ohio to hit Geauga, CP and KI; a trip to Hershey, Knoebels, KD and of course Gadv). I was on a rotating 4 day work week that year (2007) and had alot of weekdays off along with vacation time and 5 days off in a row. I have not put in my 13 year old son yet in Coastercounter, but he might be at around 35-40. He was a late bloomer and took him alot longer to get the courage to ride. edit: Just put my son in coastercounter.com and he is at 52.
  4. I thought Mantis was alot smoother than Green Lantern but i rode Mantis from 2000-2007. It could have gottne rougher since then. Green Lantern seems to bang my head around too much and seems to hurt my daughter's legs but she could not remember Mantis hurting her so much.
  5. Ive been to Gadv 4 times and HH 2 times (1 visit was a trip to both parks on the same day). It's been less than usual the past few years and my family and I are starting to get bored with Gadv. With a lack of shows and everyone just really riding coasters, we have been taking longer lunch breaks and sitting in the car from 12-1 instead of 12-12:30 and been leaving earlier like around 2-3 instead of 3 or 4pm. HH is just ok; too crowded at the wave pool with rude people all around. Most times it takes too long just to get a soda refill there. Lack of tubes at the lazy river is getting old and the slow dispatching on the slides is also something we are not too happy with. We were going to go this past sunday (July 7th) but the kids and I were just not too excited to go back. If they had a few indoor shows that were A/C cooled and/or just a few more shows in general, we just don't feel like going to the park and just stand in lines with it being 90 degrees out. My wife would rather drive the 2 1/2 hours to go to SFA just for the shows and the way the park is laid out (smaller/water park inside/parking closer) Now with that said, we will probably go July 14th, but we might actually drive down to DC and go to SFA again. We enjoyed our visit there a few weeks ago but was not able to do everything that we wanted to do. It would be a 2 1/2 trip instead of a 45min trip
  6. How are the crowds for 4th of july? debating about either going here or Dorney.
  7. I was in DC last week and tryed to figure out if my season pass to Gadv would work for parking. I went on SFA web site and if you bought a season pass there, it would work at all the other parks including (and they mentioned this specicially) parking for Gadv. You go on SF Gadv web site and parking is extra and only works at Gadv. I went to SFA last friday and used my SF Gadv season pass that has parking on it and they let me right in. Maybe I got lucky or it will work at other parks. And by the way, they let you in the park earlier with SF Gadv seaon pass (premium).
  8. I took my kids there also on father's day. Got to the park at around 10am and it was crowded then. Took about 15 minutes just to go through security and another 15min to get in through the season pass entrance. I guess everyone was there becuase of the "bring a friend free" coupon. Anyway went right to El Toro, 1 train running got right on (looked like they were working on the 2nd train) Next was Rolling Thunder, no wait for front row and it was smoother than expected. Bizarro was close at the time so we rode the log flume (5 min wait) and took skyway (no wait) to the other side. Rode Nitro (5 min wait) and Batman the Ride (10 min wait). We left the park about 12:30 to eat lunch in the truck and went to Hurricane Harbor at 1pm Kids rode 3-4 slides and I just hung out at the wave pool. Left the water park at 3pm Only planned to go to each park for a few hours so it worked out ok. Even though GA and HH looked crowded we did not wait too long for the rides. However we did notice both Superman and Green Lantern had long lines at 12:30.
  9. How crowded was sunday? Going this Sunday first thing at 10am. Also does anyone know if we use a bring a friend coupon can they come in with us early or do they have to wait until 10:30 with everyone else?
  10. Don't remove any coasters... Just reopen old country (as a 40th anniversary with some rides including an interactive dark ride); bring back the stunt show, water show, and other misc. shows. A drop tower also would be nice. And pave the parking lot.
  11. I'm still disappointed about the lack of shows we have compared to other parks. Even Six Flags America has a Pirate Stunt Show and some type of Pyrotechnic Show. Our stays at the park would last alot longer if they had those type of shows.
  12. Sounds like a good trip. Going this Sunday with the family and I hope it wont be crowded since it's Easter. But i'm also hoping all the coasters will be up and running. Might actually get a change to go on skyscreamer this time around. Never went on it last year. I'm not too crazy about a chain (even though they have support cables) swinging a 250lb man around in circles.
  13. Have seen the ad on 6ABS and FOX29 so far in the past few days... We were thinking about going Sunday but with the weather we just don't know...
  14. With 4 season passes for the family i'm not getting 4... just too expensive. What I am planning to do is either get 1 or 2. My wife hardly goes so it's not worth it for her. My daughter and I go the most so I might get 1 or 2. We usually split the meals when we decide to purchase meals in the park to save money anyway. We will still bring lunch because we like taking a break and sit out on the truck and people going into the park at 12-1pm while we already hit most of the coasters. So getting 1 or 2 meal passes would kind of being like a snack in the park and if just my daughter and I go, we dont have to bring a lunch.
  15. I like it when they are mixed in with the rest of the rides. I don't mind having one children's section but you need smaller rides around the park near the adult rides. When my daughter and I went to a rollercoaster ride, my wife and son would hit a smaller kiddie ride close by. That way we we stayed together most of the time as a family. I remember doing that alot at Busch Gardens Williamsburg years ago. Gadv pretty much does this also. There are children's section throughout the park near all the large coasters. Even when my daughter and I went to KK, my son played in the Jungle area (but that's closed now) Now since both my kids ride all the coasters, need something for my wife to do besides sitting on a bench waiting for us all the time.
  16. The kids and I are going on Sunday also. Then on Easter Sunday we are all going again (including my wife...it's actually her idea as an excuse for her relatives not to come over our house for Easter...) Both times we will probably be there at 10am and only stay til 2-3. Looking forward to another great season; but still cant determine if we might get a few dining plans (not for all 4 of us but maybe 1 or 2). The foods we eat (if not packing a lunch) seems not to be included in the places to eat. Hoping they might have an updated list on what is on the plan since they mentioned new menu items.
  17. I forgot about Hurler at Kings Dominion... My daughter and I had serious headaches after riding that.
  18. Love El Toro, but im still glad Phoenix is still in the top 5. What an exciting coaster at such a small park. Now that is a classic!!!! But El Toro is still my #1. Just hope it wont get "loose" and turn into a "Mean Streak". It hasn't felt as "tight" as it used to be...
  19. That's the reason though I got Season Passes to Great Adventure instead of Dorney Park. I save over $400 a year getting SP to Gadv and with the payment plan it is a great deal. If Cedar Fair offered the same price/payment plan, I would be getting that season passs for the family. Actually I would probably get both season passes because we go to Kings Dominion almost every year because my parents live about 2 hours away. I understand SF wants to squeeze every penny out of us but atleast let us get a few shows/stunt shows/parades in return.
  20. I agree with Yoshi, Spring is the best time for me and my family. We always go on Sundays and we can usually hit all the coasters by 2pm (even with a stop in the parking lot for lunch). Summer time we split betwwen Gadv and HH and in the fall we might go a few times in Sept. Last year was the 1st time we went to the park after opening (2:30pm) and it happened to be during Fright Fest... well... wont do that again! Even though the shows were nice, its just too crowded (did not even go on any coasters that day!). If they had more shows we would probably go to Gadv more in the summer time; less coasters but would be able to watch more shows with the wife and kids; but for now we usually just go to HH and sit by the pool (which is also way overcrowded with rude people).
  21. In the parking lot near the preferref and handicap parking?
  22. Why is the Chinese, the Teriaki place or the Cheessteak place not on it. Those are 3 places our family would eat if we didnt bring a lunch. *** Also does anyone know if the Season Dining Pass will work at other SF parks. Was going to try and go to SFA this year and dont want to bring a lunch. I'm also thinking of just getting 1 on my season pass and not on the rest of the families. Most of the time my daughter and I just go and we split the meal(s). Then it would be worth it but we usually split Panda Express or a Cheesesteak.
  23. How many people remember the 1st year it was out? It was atleast an hour wait and it seemed that almost every cycle someone was throwing a dollar bill or 2 out of the ship and into the line where people were waiting. The chaos over a dollar bill!!!
  24. Been on both and I happen to like Dragster better due to the better restraints (or lack of). I also like the theming of Dragster (not great but good) and I like how there are stands that people can watch. Loading is also better because of how they load 2 coasters at once. It seems faster the KK but I could be wrong.
  25. I love MF but I think Nitro is better for pure excitement when I take my 2 kids. Its 4 across and when we ride it we lift up our hands and legs. MF is fun and I would not mind having a coaster like that at Gadv (rather have I305) but Nitro's load times are faster and line is always bearable when we go.
