  1. With us being close to 2 major cities, Gadv should (and could) something like this...
  2. With all the bad things that happened at Action Park in the 80's (including my dad flying off the Alpine Slide) it was still a fun park to go to when I was a teenager. We always got the package where we stayed at the hotel for a few days, played some golf and hit the park. Does anyone know how the hotel is doing?
  3. I took the family also on Sunday. Arrived at the park at 10:20. Went to El Toro 1st with about a 10 minute wait with 1 train running. Since my wife went we decided to do the Safari for the 1st time. about a 5 minutes wait to get on a truck. The entire trip with getting off 1/2 way through took alittle over an hour. Still miss driving through in the morning before the park opened up. By the time we got off, Runaway mine train had a line down the steps. Got something to eat then went to Skull Mounatin (station wait) and then Nitro (20 minute wait). It seemed more crowded than we expected and we just was not "feeling it". So we left around 2pm and went to the Outlets (another waste of time). I don't know what it is but so far Great Adventure is not doing anything for us this year. Usually we run around and ride a ton of coasters but so far after 2 trips we only rode a few times.
  4. That was one place I have never eaten at. Thought it was just sausage sandwiches. Even the Gadv website does not show it. Thanks for ther info.
  5. I looked in Johnny Rockets on Saturday and did not see Fish and Chips or Fried shrimp... Did I miss something? Also I don't mind the $1-$2 upcharge for certain items (ex: double cheeseburger makes sense), especially if it will include more items. I only bought 1 dining pass this year to try it out and I let my kids split the meals (ex: chicken fingers and fries and 2 hot dogs and fries). It actually worked out since I have been trying to lose weight and trying to avoid those items. Still wished they had smaller side salads for $4.99. But I don't like how I have to wait til 4pm for the 2nd meal. We wanted to leave at 3:30 but decided to wait so we can get another meal.
  6. I met him briefly while waiting on an extremely long season processing line. I kind of felt bad for him having to deal with several people complaining how long the wait was and he took it in stride. I was impressed that he was out there talking to people and listening to them (especially one man behind me constantly complaining about the line. HEY... it was opening day, sunny, 75 degrees and everyone in the Northeast has been stuck in there houses all winter! What did he expect???). I now wished I talked to him about having more shows (like SFA has) or adding a 4D movie again. But those pics??? seems alittle "stretched out" or "blown up" in certain areas. I could have been wrong though. I was in line for over an hour in the hot sun...
  7. I would love the park be open on the holidays. They would however need more indoor rides (ex: interactive dark ride), a 4D show(s), and some indoor musical shows
  8. Every time we go we always go to KK, then SUF, GL, El Toro, Bizarro then clockwise to the other side of the park. Don't know what we are going this Saturday. We do need to process our Season Passes still so we might do that 1st. I remember the beginning of last year we went to El Toro 1st a few times (I didn't think KK was open and that why we twent there 1st) but El Toro only had 1 train running and with alot of people (including me at times) needed some "assistance" to get locked in, it seems like it was running real slow. Will probably hit SUF and GL, then Season Processing, then go to the other side of the park and hit Nitro.
  9. That's the one ride that my kids rather ride with each other than with me for that same exact reason. Last time I rode it with my daughter we were in the back row and when we went over the 1st drop, she thought she was going to fly right out.
  10. We wanted to go Sunday but my wife is working so we will be going Saturday. !st time that we have gone to Gadv on a Satuday in a long time. We still have to get our SP and process them also. Hopefully it wont be too bad.
  11. I miss the pickles!!! Great healthy snack for me and my kids to eat for $4. Light and refreshing and much better for you than fries.
  12. For a 40th anniversary year, besides Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom; it seems they did not put too much effort into it. With Kings Dominion having a 40th anniversay at the same time... it seems KD is doing alot more their event. I'm I wrong or missing something? Still planning to get Season Passes this year (usually I have them by now) but every year it seems i'm getting less interested in the park. Let's put it this way... If Cedar Fair season passes were the same price (or even alittle higher priced) at Six Flags, we would get those passes instead and go to Dorney Park and Kings Dominion (and probably even make a trip to Cedar Point). But since going to Six Flags America last year for the 1st time (in 20 years for me when it was Wild World) we plan on going there atleast a few times this year. Do some D.C. museums on Saturday and hit SFA on Sunday. We like (especially my wife) SFA better due to the shows, the size (not too big) and a fair amount of coasters and flats along with the water park inside the main park. But we will probably still be at GADV on April 12th and/or 13th.
  13. I like the idea of any rides with every other seat reversed. Seeing the person/friend/daughter/son/WIFE in front of you making certain expressions during a ride would be alot of fun to see. Stinger at Dorney Park does that (even though not a great ride) it was facing other people in front of you that made the ride alittle better. I know it wont be done but just image having one of the KK trains redesigned to have seats facing each other...
  14. Sounds good, especially with a different variety of food that you usually can't get at the park. Will be going Sunday and since my daughter is now old enough to drive I can sample a few wines also.
  15. I stopped by Six Flags America on the way back from visiting my parents in Southern Virginia.. We stopped by in June with my wife and kids but 2 coasters (Batwing and Roar) were closed the day we went. So since I was by myself I decided to stop by and ride the two that I missed. Arrived at the park at 11:45am and hardly anyone was there. Went right through security and the entrance and they stop everyone from entering the park except for the gold (and platinum) SP holders at the fountain. The park opens up at Noon that day. I hit 6 coasters in about an hour... 1st was Jokers Jinx, front row, 1st train out. Next was Superman, middle row 1st train out Then was Batwing, front row 1st train out. Actually I was the only one on, then a few more people showed up so we waited a few more minutes. I really like it much more than SUF at Gadv. Its like Firehawk at KI. Going up backwards and flipping around on the 1st drop was something I was not expecting. Plus also going through some of ride on your back and not seeing where your going is alot of fun. Went back to Jokers Jinx, back row, no wait Hit Roar, front row, no wait (alittle shaky for me but not bad). Finally hit Wild One, front row, 1 train wait. If I wanted to I could have rode all the coaster several times in a row but I wanted to get home at a decent time. (Wished I rode more though). A few other notes... they seemed to have more shows and alot more characters walking around then at Gadv. I really like this park. Maybe not as many coasters as Gadv but for some reason I think the atmosphere is much nicer. Now of course I have been there only twice and both times the park was not crowded so that could be the reason but it even seems the operators were alot nicer.
  16. American Eagle - Six Flags Great America... I'm gonna miss Rolling Thunder! Try this one...
  17. Does any one know if I donate blood, can I give the ticket to someone else? (since I have a SP).
  18. At SFA if you buy the meal plan for 2014 it includes the rest of this year. I did not notice if Gadv is the same or not. Did not buy the Dining Pass this year. I'm glad I did not because I think we only ate in the park a few times. Is the chinese restaurants included in the DP? If it is, might try and get one for next year. Wont get more than that since my kids and I usually split a meal when we do eat there. And does it work at other parks also?
  19. I was there a few times in 1988. I was in the Air Force and stationed in MD at the time and took my wife (then girlfriend) who lived in Philly there. I took her on Free Fall and since then she won't ride anything extreme. I also meet some of my family (I lived in Long Island) at times there. Seemed there was alot more to do there back then.
  20. I dont mind getting a drop tower because Gadv needs one and I even like the idea of it being on the tallest coaster. I don't like heights (even though I ride KK and SS and other drop towers at other parks) but it's not a ride that I would try and ride multiple times in a day (ex: Nitro, SM, El Toro, Bizarro) so I might feel alittle worried that after a few years it might lose its appeal. It seems to me that SS lost its appeal already (seems like it's only a 1 or 2 cycle wait and the ride itself it short). And with the long walk to get there if you're with a family and lets say only 1/2 the family members want to ride and the other 1/2 does not, what is there for them to do while waiting for you to ride? That's what I am thinking of. My wife will be bored sitting there waiting for me and my 2 kids to ride. Again I like the attraction but it seems it missing something more.
  21. Total Darkness was a total BORE!!! I was a waste of time (waited atleast 1/2 on line Sunday before it opened at 2:15pm) and would have been a waste of money but we used one of those free attraction coupons.
  22. I slept very well that night but I was alittle sore the next day. I will be there again this Sunday all day with 3 15-16 yr old girls (my daughter and her girlfriends)... Will probably sit in the car and relax during the afternoon and listen to the Eagles game. It's a shame Gadv does not have a place in the park I can watch the game lke Dorney Park does.
  23. Took just my son to GA this Sunday to ride Rolling Thunder for the last time. My daughter decided not to go which is a first. Arrived at 10am and used preferred parking to park up close. Brought lunches thinking we would only spend 1/2 day but our plans ended up changing. Getting through security was quick for a change but there was a huge crowd waiting to get it. Even the season's passes line was crowded. Went to KK 1st, took a while for them to open the line (about 10:45am) but rode 1st train out 2nd row. Next was El Toro. no wait for middle of the train but when it got back in the station could not do a re-ride. Since we were only thinking about staying 1/2 day we decided to not go back on. Went to Rolling Thunder next to get our last ride for this classic coaster in (not actually though). Was about a 15 minute wait for 2nd row... and it was very enjoyable and sad (it was also the Twix train). Bizarro was next, no wait as always but only rode it once. RMT was also a walk on, log flume was closed (and drained) and the Safari was packed so we took the cable cars to the other side. Skull Mountain was a 1 train wait for front row, then we went to Nitro which was closed! BTR was a station wait and TDK was a preshow wait. Went and got some fries as a snack and just walked around. Went back to the car for lunch from 1:00 to 1:45. Decided to see the Sea Lion show. I was OK. Since it was just my son and I, we just wanted to relaxed and enjoy the park. We went to the Ferris wheel and waited 1 cycle to get on When we were on the Ferris Wheel we noticed Nitro was running. Went to Nitro which was a 15 minute wait. Great ride as always. We also noticed Congo Rapids was open and alot of people were getting off and soaked. Now when we usually ride we never get wet. So we decided to take a chance. Of course my 13 year old son likes to get wet but I don't. I had a phone protected plastic bag which for the first time served me well. I got soaked!!! He got soaked!!! Head to toe... wet everything... Even the dryer did not help at all. We now decided to go back to the car and go home. But a quick stop at skyscreamer was needed since it was a 1 cycle wait. Got back to the car and wringed out our clothes, took off the wet socks and got ready to leave. Then we noticed no line for Superman... or Green Lantern... My son and I looked at each other and decided (after about 5 minutes of "what ever YOU want to do") to go back in. No wait for Superman, no wait for GL, then went to try KK, about a 15 minute wait. Decided to play STACKER since I have won a few times but no luck today. Actually no luck with any of the machines. Oh well. We usually never wven play those games there. This was when we were walking around in circles trying to firgure out what to do next...walked to El Toro; long line, went to RT; long line, Bizarro was next but did not go on, took cable cars to SM and rode last row twice, then Nitro was a station wait. At this time it was 7:15 and talked my son into riding RT one last time in the dark. 20 minute wait for 2nd row again and this time we were on the red train twith the RT classic logo. Alot of people we taking pics that logo and I wished they had a T-shirt made up with that logo because I would have bought one. I have not rode RT in the night for as long as I can remember BUT it was well worth it. It was 7:55pm now and we decided to go on El Toro one last time. It was a great day with just myself and my son. He has never been at GADV from start to finish and I haven't since the last friday GASM was open with my daughter and her friend. Ride Count... SUF... 1 GL... 1 KK... 2 RT... 2 ET... 2 Bizarro... 1 RMT... 1 Cable Cars... 2 Ferris Wheel... 1 SS... 1 SM... 3 Nitro... 2 CR... 1 TDK... 1 BTR... 1 I might have forgotten 1 or 2 here or there...
  24. Other great woodies need the same maintenance...And other wood coasters that are even older are great rides (I like Blue Streak at CP and LOVE Phoenix at Knoebles) Still wish they would just retrack it/refubish it. I'm hoping there is a very good reason(s) for the removal. But SF's track record on ride removals (and even large sections of the park...Old Country and shows...too many to name) leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
