  1. Part 2... Luna Park, Coney Island We left the hotel at about 8:30 am arriving at Coney Island at 11:30 am; paid $20 for parking (did not want to look for a spot) and went to the boardwalk to eat at "Place to Beach" for a few shrimp tacos which were very good. She only needed to coaster to get 150 and were going to ride 5 out of 6 (rode Cyclone a few years ago). It would have cost $60 (which came with 15 extra credits) for use to do the 5 rides. Well on Groupon they had $80 platinum wristbands for two which included 5 extreme thrill rides (thunderbolt, cyclone, go-carts,slingshot and Zenobio) so we decided to do that. We wanted to get the coasters in 1st... Cyclone was first, classic woodie you always have to ride. Next was Circus Coaster a family coaster (147 for her) After that was The Tickler, a mouse style spinnning ride. We went on with 2 little girls who sat in the middle of us and we had more fun watching them laughing with there hands up in the air than the ride itself. (148) Up next... Soarin Eagle... A great ride you lay down like you are flying. The flips on this ride was awesome and you HAVE to have everything secure. A must do if you go to the park. (149) Skipped Steeplechase to make Thunderbolt her 150th. Another fun ride for a small amusement park. Last coaster was steeplechase. you sit on a horse and it shoots you off on the track. Not back of a ride either. So she did it...151 coasters before she turned 19... Less than a month after I hit my 150th with The Joker at GADV. She is at 151 and I am at 165. After that we did several flat rides, the go-carts, the slingshot, etc... In all we hit more rides at Coney Island than SFNE. Not crowded at all for a Sunday afternoon. If you can ever get to this park and pay $40 for the unlimited wrist band it is absolutely worth it. Good enough rides to get your money's worth and will use up all 4 hours (we did re ride some coasters again) No wait what so ever. Great weekend to go... Really had no Cons (for this day at least). Left the park at 4:15, took her food shopping, dropped her off back at college and got home at 7:30 pm It was a fun and tiring weekend but well worth it.
  2. I left my house at 5:35 am arriving at St John's in Staten Island at 7:45 am to pick up my daughter and headed to SFNE stopping once to get gas and something to eat. Arrived at the park at 10:20 and decided to pay extra for preferred parking ($30.00 unable to upgrade there like at GADV. Quickly got through the security and gates within a minute. A lot easier and faster than at GADV. Went to Wicked Cyclone 1st... Great ride... Possibly a top 5 for us. Wanted to ride again but they do not allow re-rides there so we decided to try and hit everything 1st and then go back. While we were there we rode Skyscreamer (walk-on) and Blizzard Rivers (walk-on, only the 2 of us were on it). Note: Blizzard rivers was the "BEST" rapids ride we were ever on; fast paced, a lot of rapids and able to get wet with 2 water falls. Went to Pandemonium next with about a 20 minute wait. A lot of kids were waiting to get on this so we knew it would take some time. Fun ride with the spinning and quick turns. At this time it was about 11:30 am and my daughter and I thought this was going only going to take 1/2 day to do everything. I though about Flashpasses (which I never do) but decided not to. Almost was a mistake. Goliath was closed and flashback was something we can easily hit later. Wanted to hit Superman before the VR so we headed there. When we got there they said it was a 2 hour wait due to a commercial shoot. We were going to skip it and go back later but he said it would be worse so we decided to wait. It was only 45 minutes and I can tell you it was worth it. Great view, nice turn and hills. To me it was a cross between Nitro and Superman at SFA. Catwoman's whip was next (our Harley Quinn) 2 cycle wait. Mind Eraser was next, about 1/2 wait. Not at hurtful as I heard and could have rode it again but decided to go to Batman the Dark Night (like our Bizarro but shorter) but there seems to be a long line so we decided to get something to eat. Think it about 1:45 at this time. After walking around (a very crowed park) and seeing a lot of eateries were packed we went to Macho Nacho. Not a long line but very slow. On a good note when you get Nachos there you can get what ever you want. That was a plus. Back to Batman TDK... About a 45 minute wait... Very slow dispatches (but that was through out the entire park). Enjoyable ride... So far everything we rode was something we could ride again. Now comes Thunderbolt... 1/2 hour wait, one train running. Small wooden roller coaster built in the 1948. It hurt a lot! Went to Goliath next, probably an hour wait at least but we went on the single rider line to shave off about 2o minutes. Now this was a LOVE-HATE ride. Going up on the lift was incredible, The ride itself was somwhat rough (but still could ride it again). Flashback was next... 1/2 wait and both my daughter and thought it was not that bad at all. Went to Great Chase (kiddie ride) but the line was very long and I did not think I could fit. So we decided to get something to eat. We had Fish and Chips. Actually it was hot and fresh but took 1/2 hour to get the food. Now it 6 pm with 2 rides to go. Headed over to Gotham City Gauntlet... Now every time we went by this it had a long line and now it was the worst. About a 45 minute ride. Its basically TDK but outside and reversed. The time is now 7:15, one coaster to go but when we got there it was closed (along with other kiddie rides in that area) Strange because it was more crowded than ever but since the park was closing at 8, I guessed why they did that. After that we decided to go the hotel (Rodeway Inn about 15 minutes south). Pros: Nice Atmosphere and layout. In some areas it was well detailed. Able to ride 10 coasters to get her count to 146 and mine to 160. Most people in line was polite (carried on quit a few conversations). I think a good all-around park with nice selection of rides. Cons: Way too crowded for a weekend in Sept with it being the week before FF and the Big E was going on. Very slow dispatching (worse I have seen). Bees!!! Paying full price for preferred parking instead of paying the upgrade price. Food was slow to get (but that's at every SF park). Park closing at 8 pm... (with the crowds they had could have stayed open till 10 pm) All in all, would go back in the spring with my wife and son (he had to work). I have a few pics and will try and post them later (always forget how though). Next up... Luna Park/Coney Island
  3. I was thinking about paying for preferred parking to get closer. That lot looks a lot closer on google maps. Is it a different entrance for preferred parking? Is it in the handicap section? And what is 'the NESS"? never mind, I believe its the Skyscreamer...
  4. That was the original plan since we really wanted to ride Boulder Dash but Lake Compounce is closed this weekend and next also. So we changed our plan so she can still hopefully hit her 150 mark. Quassy only has 2 coasters I believe
  5. Just booked a room at Rodeway Inn and suites... $75 p/tax; has outdoor pool (doubt it will be open) and breakfast. Going to do SFNE all day Saturday (11 coasters) and then stop by Luna Park in Coney Island to hit some more (besides Cyclone since we rode that a few years ago). My daughter who is 18 wants to hit 150 different coasters before she turns 19. She is at 136 so it is very possible.
  6. Thanks for the input everyone. Now I have another dilemma... Fright Fest starts next weekend there. Don't know if we should wait or go this weekend. We really want to go on rides but the park is only open up til 8 pm... Fright Fest is open till 11 pm I think. Also can not tell from the website if the haunts are free (does not show any up charges which is a plus); however I would think it would be less crowded this weekend then next. I would take less crowds over fright fest and a later closing. I did find a nice hotel by the airport for $99 which includes breakfast and an indoor pool Hyatt House by the airport.
  7. This weekend I am planning to pick up my daughter from St. John's University to Staten Island and taking her to SFNE. Planning to get there as close to their opening as possible. Does anyone what coasters to hit up 1st? I know we got to do Wicked Cyclone 1st and I want to hit Superman before the VR. Any other "must do" coasters? We will hopefully hit them all to bump up our coaster count. Also any "must do" flat rides? We will stay overnight (any cheap hotels close by that are recommended?) somewhere also so we can hit the park Sunday for a few hours only. Don't want to waste money on a flashpass unless we have to also. Since we have a Dining plan any "must eat" places in the park? Tks for any info.
  8. Only went once this year. Went several times last year along with going to Asbury Beach alot. This year I had my dad from Virginia for several weeks and also getting ready for my daughter for college, we could not make enough time. On a side note I only went to Gadv twice so far along with my daughter. My wife and son only went once... Seems like the SP and DP we got was not worth it this year.
  9. Does anyone know the difference between our JL ride and MM JL "second generation" ride besides this... This will actually be a "next generation" version of the popular Six Flags dark ride experience featuring a spectacular new finale scene, new game targets as well as the addition of popular super-villain Harley Quinn. You think this could be on all JL rides for the parks next year...
  10. I might be a little nervous if it had just lap bars when going through the corkscrew at the top though
  11. My family along with my daughter's boyfriend took my dad back home to Bracey, Virginia and he visited us for a few months so we stayed down at his place for the week He has a pontoon boot on Lake Gaston and it's nice just to go down and relax. We were debating on which park to go to... Kings Dominion (groupon coupon for $33) or Busch Gardens ($62 on line). Decided to got to Busch Gardens for a few reasons... 1, have not been there for several years: 2,Verbolten; 3, my wife does not ride coasters and my daughter's boyfriend only rides some so we can do other things (like watch shows). Arrived at the park Wednesday at 10am and did the preferred parking. Parking lot was not crowded and getting in was a lot easier and quicker than Gadv... No security check in except for bags and walked right into the entrance. Griffon was first... front row no wait. Great ride as always and did not tell my daughter boyfriend about the first drop. Went back a second time (less boyfriend) and rode the 3rd row. Next was Alpengeist front row, one train wait... More intense than what I remembered and went back a second time with just my son.' Curse of DarKastle was next, no wait; went right on and the only ride my wife went on... Fun ride, wish Gadv has something like this. Went around for a second ride. Germany was next, found out the "roll out the barrel" show does not perform on Wednesdays... bummer Went to Vertbolten only to find out it as closed at the time so went went to Italy next Apollo's Charoit was next... One coaster wait for the front. Almost like Nitro. Might actually like this one better Tempesto was next, about a 15 minute wait (no boyfriend on this one, he was feeling a little sick. Knew this would have a wait since it is only one train. Fun ride, difficult restraints though. It's now only 12noon! Decided to get lunch back in England and just got cheeseburgers and fries. Longest wait of the day but it was ok since they just opened. Wanted to see London Rocks but it starts at 1pm so my daughter son and I went to Loch Ness. About a 5 minute wait. Fun ride as always. Went back to watch London Rocks, not a bad show, but not like the shows they used to have a decade ago. Went over to Escape from Pompeii to get wet but not too wet. Great theming at the top with the fire effects. Next we went to Ireland to watch a 2pm show of Celtic Frye. Great show! Would see it again and again Went to watch Pet Shenanigans show at 3pm, Abbreveated show due to the heat, only about 10 minutes, Cute show. Went to the log flume next, about a 5 minute wait, tried to get a good picture us us but I looked the wrong way so we went on again, 15 minute wait this time because it stopped running for about 10 minutes. Bette picture Went back to Germany only to find out that Vertbolten would be closed for the day. After that we decided to go home. Final thoughts... --- Great day since it was not too crowded at all. Thought we were going to be at the park til 9pm. --- Lack of shows from a decade ago, but the ones they had was good. --- Verbolten being closed (main reason why I went). --- Themes of the park is very nice, even being 95 degrees there was plenty of shade and walking from country to country is a nice change. --- Wanted to get a picture of just me, my wife and daughter on a log flume since we have one of the 3 of us when she was 18mths old but my wife backed out. --- Employees were super nice! --- My wife was not bored (like when she goes to Gadv or KD). --- Last time at an amusement park as a family before my daughter goes to college (which is tomorrow) --- Did not ride hardly any flat rides (don't know why). --- Only added one coaster to my coaster count (but if we went to KD I would have not added any). Overall it is a great park but a lack of more shows, no Verbolten and the loss of the other 4D show (forgot the name) it was not as it used to be.
  12. I got 2 emails for my wife's SP also, since she only went to the park once this year (April)
  13. I was in the 10%... always loved GASM... at times it was rough, other times not so bad.
  14. Was planning on going to the park this Sunday (surprisingly I have only been to Gadv once this year) but now since this weekend they have "bring a friend" I think the park would be packed... Now rethinking my plans
  15. Mean Streak was a "pretty good" coaster when we 1st rode it in 2002 (able to ride it 2-3 times in a row)... But by 2007 it was rough and hard to ride (1 time was enough for the trip).
  16. I know we would not get one and it is a survey for every park but it just got my mind thinking about a medium size coaster in general. We have Nitro and Batman over on that side, both more towards the extreme side of coasters; then we have TDK which is an indoor coaster.. in the dark... which some children might not like or even try (my wife closes her EYES on that ride! WHY?). A family style coaster could be an answer for that side of the park... We have RMT on one side and Harley in the middle. I would rather have a large thrilling coaster ride there but since I took the survey it just got my mind thinking if a family style coaster would be a good fit there. So I was not thinking we would get "Ragin Cajun" there but since so many people seem to be thinking either a large coaster or a flat package it seemed that no one brought up (from what I remember reading...but could be wrong) having a medium size coaster in that spot. Just another option for GADV. Between cost and trying to get more families back into the park with family rides... Not just kiddie rides and extreme rides. But they still need more shows for entire families.
  17. https://feedback.sixflags.com/AdvisoryPanel/startsurvey.aspx?s=NEWS2016&e=robertleax%40yahoo.com&utm_source=surveyemails&utm_medium=email&utm_content=subscriber_id:&utm_campaign=2016-07%20Newsletter%20Headline%20Survey%20(2nd%20Group) Try this. I know it is close the TDK, but with it being outside, and the way it spins, it feels like a different experience; especially the last half of the ride.
  18. I just got a survey from Six Flags and one section was talking about a spinning ride with no 2 rides alike. Sounds very similar to Ragin' Cajun at SFA??? http://rcdb.com/6765.htm It is a family (but somewhat thrilling) coaster which I have been on with my daughter. The segment seemed to be describing this type of ride. That could fit easily into chiller's spot and they can add a few more flat rides to open that section of the park. But that will leave us no room for a larger coaster???
  19. I will be at Great Adventure on Sunday to ride my 150th coaster... The Joker!!!. Decided to make it this coaster for a few reasons... 1... It's my home park 2... Was going to be Thunderbolt at Luna Park, but did not seem that thrilling and was by myself ... and... 3... Will be with my kids, makes it more meaningful... It will be my daughter's 133rd and my son's 53rd (he is far behind).
  20. Rode 2 at OC N.J. yesterday to make it 149... Going to GADV on Sunday for my 150th... The Joker
