Chiller
Why exactly was it rehabbed? Nothing seemed different this season.
GAcoaster
It needed the bearings overhauled along with other routine maintenance.

batmanrobinchiller
Twister is such a great flat attraction! The loop feeling of a roller coaster without being on an actually coaster.
29yrswithaGApass
While passing near Twister today a new announcement caught my ear. The operator stated that open-toed shoes, flip flops, and bare feet were not allowed on this ride. I can see loose or no shoes but I wonder why no open-toed shoes? After reviewing the Ride Rules sign I realized it was updated. It now includes: "In order to ride Guests must possess three full extremities with full functioning hands and feet." I assume this is in response to the coaster accident at Darien Lake last year. Here is the new sign: And here is the old one:
29yrswithaGApass
Twix will be sponsoring the Twister this season. Does that make the ride the Twixster?
gafreak
how did you find that out already?

laurenalexis
I go to the park pretty often, and I barely see this ride run. Yesterday was the first time I've seen it run in a long time. It was only open for an hour or so, then it was closed for the day. How come they don't run it that often?
DANofNJ
I would think its either down for 2 reasons. Mechanical or Staffing issues. Either way, its unacceptable.
GAcoaster
Most likely mechanical problems. They have rebuilt it several times now, each time to have more problems. There's a really good reason why the manufacturer (Huss) went bankrupt.
laurenalexis
It looked pretty messy, hydraulic fluid (at least that's what I think it was) was spilling out of these things: Is that normal?
gasmspiritblue
Yeah it's been down for a long time, i have seen some of the mechanics working on one of the motors, then test it in the afternoon with no riders daily.
truepolak90
I hate to say it, but I don't see Twister sticking around much longer. It's been giving the park nothing but problems and SFNE removed theirs already. Something like Demon at La Ronde would be an awesome replacement. Very true, when i am working, i see it break down and have to be completely shut down at least 3- 4 times a day.
RC98
^ Yep I was there today and it was down at least twice I saw, I only saw it running once. Hopefully if its time is up it will be replaced by another thrill ride rather than becoming an empty pad.
29yrswithaGApass
I am constantly amazed how guests don't pay attention. They are always shocked when they get up to the staircase on Twister and are turned away because they have open toe shoes even though there is a sign at the entrance to the ride saying they aren't permitted and after the ride op announces it every three minutes between ride cycles. DANofNJ
Where have you been Harry? Not just with the open toe shoes, but for the most part, guests don't listen or read any safety signs in the park. Its been like that for years. GASM
Has anyone seen Twister run AT ALL this season? Each time I've been there, it's been down for the whole day. Looks like its days are numbered, sadly.
Matt Kaiser
^ Yesterday I saw mechanics working on it all day. They were repeatedly opening and closing the restraints. Then they rotated the gondola about 10 degrees back and checked restraints repeatedly again.
29yrswithaGApass
The Twister is safe. The gondola has just been refurbished with new wiring and should be up and running soon once inspected.
