Regardless of the environment, this is our top priority every day. We also recognize and understand that you all have concerns about the coronavirus; therefore, I personally want to update you on everything that we are doing to provide a safe environment for you, your family, and our team members. First, we are closely monitoring the latest developments and following the guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Additionally, we have hired a highly regarded infectious disease specialist with more than 30 years of experience as an advisor for this situation. Second, we are taking several actions to help you feel confident about your health and safety while you are in our parks. We have significantly enhanced our cleaning and sanitation efforts on all guest and employee touch points; additionally, we are providing an abundance of anti-bacterial soap in all hand-washing stations, and have placed dozens of alcohol-based hand sanitizers throughout all areas of the parks. Finally, we are frequently cleaning and disinfecting all ride vehicles, queue lines, restrooms, food locations, and employee break areas. In addition to these actions, we have increased hygiene signage throughout our parks and are strongly encouraging guests and employees to practice good hygiene with frequent and rigorous hand washing. We are asking employees who are sick to stay home. If anyone has a fever or becomes sick while at work, we will immediately release them to see their medical provider. We hope that these measures give you confidence that we are taking the necessary precautions in this evolving situation. According to MIT review, a vaccine for COVID-19 will take about 18 months to produce, though I'm seeing some other projected timelines for the end of 2020. If the virus is going to go away, it's not going to be going away due to the vaccine by summertime. As long as people follow healthy hygiene habits and go into quarantine as required, it will hopefully stop spreading. That being said, I'm glad Six Flags is taking it seriously and is taking precautions. I also appreciate that they'll let employees stay home if they're sick. Some people who get the coronavirus don't even display symptoms. You're even less likely to die. For people over 50 years of age with immunodeficiencies or other health problems, the death rate is about 3.4% (But that's also a 94.6% survival rate, be positive!) And for people who are younger than 50 with no health problems, the death rate is a mere 0.2%. If you get sick, your doctor will take care of you. Wash your hands, don't touch your face, and look the other way if someone sneezes. And no, not everyone will be affected by this pandemic. Just try to remain calm. I just went to WDW last week three times and I'm perfectly fine. Generally people, other than some select cases, are following quarantine orders and staying out of the public sphere. In combination with everything, I don’t think it’s long before Six Flags continues with the trend. Cedar Fair is leveraged more than Six Flags right now and just dumped a ton of money into hotels, a giga coaster, and events that will have disappointing return on investment this year. Up until yesterday I thought things would be basically normal for the park season with a few extra precautions. Now with all these sports leagues suspending the season, even MLB likely suspending spring training with it being outdoors, I don't see how parks are going to not close. So basically, be patient and just be careful, I think this whole virus thing is being blown out of proportion, mostly because it is new and we don't know if it will get worse than it has. They also closed down the Wells Fargo Center ( formally Spectrum 2 ), until the end of March and banned all public gatherings over 1,000 people in Philly. Will it affect Six Flags? Probably. But it won't forever. You really just have to wait until we reach that point though. With the lack of testing available for this virus, more people than we currently know probably have it and its only going to get worse. I'm not trying to be a downer, but it is only realistic. Phil Murphy has stated he urges gatherings over 250+ to be canceled, and he said he may enforce that rule soon. That is the closet SF sister park to SFGAdv which indicates that GAdv will likely be delayed too.
