Mr.Six
Seems that a park employee tragically died earlier today. Prayers with the workers family. Note: This WAS on property and in the park... https://www.google.com/amp/s/articles.nj.com/ocean/index.ssf/2017/09/teenager_dies_after_hit_by_truck_at_six_flags.amp Edited September 7, 2017 by Mr.Six
nbadude44
How sad. This, I believe, is the first death in the park since the Haunted House fire in 1984. My thoughts are with the employee's family right now.

scott
Any death is sad but this young man was just getting started in life. My daughter is just a little younger and I can't imagine how hard this will be for his parents, how much life he won't be able to experience and the contributions, big or small that wont be made. So sad.
truepolak90
My thoughts and condolences go out to the family. So sorry to hear this.
Mr.Six
https://imgur.com/gallery/OhVGs I'm surprised how much old things from SFGADV were in the visible boneyard area (Just during the ROTB Nitro tour). The octopus from Wiggles World, the carrot from Bugs Bunny's house, Elmer Fudd from his balloon ride I guess, old advertisements and more can all be seen fairly easily. (All photos mine.) 29yrswithaGApass
The Looney Tunes figures are primarily from the old Bugs Bunny Fun Factory.
Mrpq
Not that I want to harp on this but but they keep saying "lift truck" like a fork lift? and the forks hit him? I cant imagine any other scenario. If he was just hit hit by a truck and I cant see how a truck could be traveling that fast in the park as to cause a death

If I had to guess based on the articles' wording and the vehicles regularly used in the park for decorating, I think it was a boom lift. No idea how, though. Viper26
Are portable phone charging devices allowed to be brought in the park? My phone constantly crashes each time I use it uncharged for 5 minutes.

I'm pretty sure you can regardless.
Matt Kaiser
I've brought one every visit for a few years now. Even one that's a pretty large & metal 10,000 mAh battery.

Viper26
Thanks! It's good that they do allow them because I expected the strict security the park has to deny them. I saw one person bring one at Six Flags New England and me and some of my friends were able to bring their portable chargers to Hersheypark as security there is minimal. Tbone112499
I've always been able to bring mine in without any problems and it's a pretty sizable 20,000 mAh battery. No issues whatsoever from security. I always just buy a movable ride locker and keep it in there while I do the rides.

dougdrummer
They should place charging stations in the park like some malls and casinos now have. Although I'm not sure how you would lock/unlock, unless it was like the locker system. In the casinos they are free and you use your casino Rewards Card to lock and unlock the drawer you place your phone in. Works great, especially before my last phone died and the battery was toast. They've had these occasionally throughout the years. I think they do actually have them now somewhere, or at least they were there towards the first half of the year. I want to say there's one by the lockers next to the Coke Freestyle building.
GASM
I try to keep my scarce posts positive, but has anyone had an unpleasant experience at Granny's lately? I'm in the park right now, and my friend was not offered a reciept (it was printed and thrown away) and when he pointed out that he was overcharged by about $5 after the transaction was completed and he saw my total (we bought the same things), he was told that "without a receipt, we can't do anything." We were told that a very kind lady paid that difference in what he was overcharged. Had we known she did this, and who she was, we would have searched the whole park to make sure SHE got her money back. After failing to achieve anything with the cashier, we spoke to a manager at the restaurant, who proceeded to speak with the cashier. She asked about the receipt (as she should have), and I explained that it was thrown away and should still be right on top, to which I was told "Sir, I am NOT digging through the trash for your receipt." We gave up and left. We don't care that we were overcharged, and while we would absolutely love to find this fellow patron and give her what she paid out of our pockets, we also know that this is next to impossible. He and I just want to bring attention to this issue, so please everyone, keep an eye on your total at Granny's and make sure there's no discrepancy.

I've actually never been to Granny's as every Great Adventure Food Court in that park has always dissapointed me. Last time I visited, I went to Macho Nacho. Let me just say that the burrito I had was the 2nd best burrito I've had. I just got a chicken burrito with no Jalapeno's. I will be going back every visit. Mrpq
the lockers should have outlets in them that allow you to plug a charge i. actually I'm going to go patent that idea lol
Yoshi
Dorney has lockers that have phone charging, they are the same size as the standard lockers although there aren't that many of them. I think the lockers are from the same company that Great Adventure uses so maybe Great Adventure will eventually get them as well.
Matt Kaiser
They also have charging lockers at music festivals.
