Movietown

I don't really care for what they've done with the HBO Commisary as time goes on. But it's still an enjoyable place, and when the shops are closed, it's a nice spot to sit and just relax.

I have an idea for Movietown. Relocate the go karts from the Boardwalk and rename and retheme it to Speed Racer. At the same time, they should build an expanded queue for the Right Stuff theater where to go karts are.

That is how it used to be years ago. Then the park removed the extra queue for Right Stuff and placed the Go Kart track there.

Yeah that would be going back in time with the new and bigger queue for the theatre which probably isn't something the park would deem necessary at the current moment. I like the idea of the Go Karts re-theming and movement idea, however I am not sure how much longer Movietown will stay movietown with nothing much besides Batman related rides in the area.

Gotham City anyone? With the Gotham parade float and only batman rides in Movietown it makes sence. Maybe a Villan themed flat and and a change of signage from Movietown to Gothan city it really wouldnt' take much and pump new life into the area.

Gotham City would make a lot of sense considering it houses two Batman themed attractions, a Batman arena, the remnants of an old Batman attraction, and superhero merchandise. But I hope that management will realize that they can do more with a Movietown theme. You don't have to focus on just Batman, you can do so much more with the theme of movies, just look at MGM err...Hollywood Studios and even Universal. Most of their attractions are based off of movies and they are different types of attractions.

^ You are definitely right in that there is more potential in Movietown as a theme, but with an anticipated huge Batman release as well as some other justice league related releases in the next few years as well as the eventual second sequal to Begins, Batman is the rage right now and the park might look to utilize that until it has run its course.

I was fast forwarding through some more old video tapes looking for GA commercials and I ran across a special from the mid 90s called "Here's looking at you Warner Brothers". I forgot how many movie titles WB produced that could have made great rides and attractions. It would have been very interesting if Time Warner stuck with Six Flags.

^For some reason, I have this feeling that, should Six Flags ever go bankrupt and forced to sell, Time Warner may take over the chain again, or just buy the most important parks in the chain (to me, that includes SFMM, SFGAm, and SFGAdv) and brand them like Warner Bros. Movieworld. But that doesn't seem at all likely with new management making things better and better!

If you ever watch the movie "Contact" with Jodi Foster (produced by Warner), keep in mind as you see it that they were at one point planning to build a theme park attraction at Six Flags based on that movie. There are at least 2 amazing possibilities I could have seen come from that, though the movie hardly lent itself to a ride.

I just got a great and cheap way to revitalize Movietown!. In Freefalls old spot, but one of those new ZAmperla Tornado rides themed to the wizard of oz with an emerald city backdrop and figures of the scarecrow, tinman and lion. Next to that, put one of those HUSS KONG rides with an NYC backdrop. Then, use chiller's old observatory and station and transform it into a Warner Brother museum called, You Must Remeber This, that starts off with a brief film, then when the films ends, the screen open up and you walk into a warner brothers museum/gift shop/ looney tunes meeet'n'greet. Then, behind Dark Knight, put a Zamperla MotoCoaster themed to an L.A. stunt cop chase. How much could it cost, $15,000,000? Thats not to much to revitalize the area.

Awesome ideas. But a King Kong ride at Six Flags wouldn't happen. Mainly becuase King Kong is owned by Universal, while Six Flags is Warner Bros.

yeah, maybe instead they could put in a Looney Tune Dark Ride, like the one at Six FLags over Texas. That way we have a new flat and a new dark ride. Or instead, maybe they could add a good, SIT DOWN, restaurant themed to the Brown Derby or Blue Parrot. Or, even as S.S. drop tower called, Stuntman's Freefall 2: Bigger and Badder, or something like that

He means the Huss ride that is going into Bobbejonland (I'm sure I spelled that wrong), that isn't officially King Kong or rather a large gorilla (I think)

Sounds good to me, they could also install a new Splashdown ride. Maybe even have a Philly themed Philly cheesesteak stand as part of the multi city backlot theme for Movietown.

Looking at warneyleroy's motobike coaster idea, I just thought that it would be better if they had this kind of coaster themed after a car chase (Coaster pictured is Lethal Weapon Pursuit (aka. Cop Car Chase) at Movie Park Germany)

MOVIETOWN NEEDS TO BE REVIVED!!!!!! With Six Flags new emphasis on theming, now is the perfect time to make it feel like Hollywood again! Everybody LOVED the movie theme, but Gotham isn't a bad idea on the other hand. Here is what should be done!

1. Movietown made to look like a Hollywood Backlot

2.Change the arcade into a James Bond like casino set

3. Make the Batman section feel like the Gotham city set on a backlot

4.RE-ADD A STUNT SHOW!!!!!!!

5.Add a Huss/Kong ride

6.Add a Zamperla Tornado ride themed to the Wizard of Oz

7.Add a Zamperla Motocoaster themed to a hollywood car chase

8.add a new drop tower called Stunt Man's Freefall 2

9. Change Chiller's station into a Warner Brothers exhibit called You Must Remeber This featuring a short film and exhibits with props from Dakr knight, Batman, Harry Potter, Matrix, I AM LEGEND, Gone with the Wind, and the Wizard of Oz, and Casablanca with a small gift shop and Looney Tunes meet and greet

10.Add a few sound stages to create a small satellite studio for WB

11.Add a tram ride

12.Add a water dark ride themed to Willy Wonka

13. Use Koala Canyon's old spot to create a Looney Tunes Water Dark Ride

I am looking for a confirmation that I am not going totally nuts!

When this "film fence" was first installed I can remember that each frame featured a different silhouette of a famous movie scene (for example Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman's kiss goodbye). For whatever reason, they were short-lived and disappeared only after a couple of weeks.

Does anyone remember these?

I finally found a portion of a photo that proves that there did in fact use to be silhouettes of movie scenes on the film strip wall near the Time Warner Gift Boutique. As you can see, pictured is an image of the crew from The Right Stuff.
