29yrswithaGApass
A few minutes early but being the news is up on the Six Flags page.... Quote Jersey Devil Coaster Will Shatter Three World Records in 2020 at Six Flags Great Adventure Park Will Debut World’s Tallest, Fastest and Longest Single Rail Coaster JACKSON, N.J. ─ August 29, 2019 ─ On the edge of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, Six Flags Great Adventure, the World’s Ultimate Thrill Park, today announced that a menacing coaster of legendary proportions—the tallest, fastest and longest single rail coaster—Jersey Devil Coaster, will make its world debut in 2020. Towering 13 stories, at speeds up to 58 mph, riders will soar single file through the dark and foreboding woods over 3,000 feet of track. Inspired by infamous New Jersey mythology, the cutting-edge coaster will feature five intense elements including two dramatic inversions. Legend says the Jersey Devil has haunted the Pine Barrens for centuries, soaring stealthily through the woods in the dark of night before attacking its prey. Modern-day folklore even places this beast near the theme park’s Great Lake, with its menacing, curled horns manifesting under a full moon. “Six Flags Great Adventure is home to the best and most innovative roller coasters on the planet, and we are thrilled to expand our unrivaled collection with the Jersey Devil Coaster,” said Park President John Winkler. “Jersey Devil folklore has been a source of fear and intrigue here in the Pine Barrens for more than 200 years, and this iconic piece of New Jersey history inspired the design for this monstrous scream machine.” Key features of the Jersey Devil Coaster include: Four sleek trains of 12 passengers each sitting low and inline style (one rider per row) with their legs straddling either side of the monorail track; 3,000 feet of soaring, single-rail, I-beam track; Tension-building ascent up a towering, 130-foot lift hill; Flying at speeds up to 58 mph; Three intense elements including a steep 87-degree first drop, raven dive and overbank cutback; and Two dramatic inversions including a 180-degree stall and zero-gravity roll. Riders must meet the 48-inch height requirement. Jersey Devil Coaster will debut in the summer of 2020. It will be located along the lakefront near Safari Kids and Congo Rapids. Gyrotron
Looks amazing! JDC will be a little bigger than Twisted Colossus, but smaller than New Texas Giant. Cannot wait to have this at the park, it will definitely be a hit. I hope the lines keep moving with the longer trains and MCBR.
29yrswithaGApass
It is great that they will have four trains.
Gyrotron
With 12 riders per train, hopefully they fill the train and don’t run empty seats. That would be silly, considering it’s a single-file arrangement. The MCBR will hopefully boost up capacity; maybe by the time one train reaches the MCBR, another train will be dispatched. If they can send 60 full trains an hour, that is 720 riders per hour. In the animation, they are wearing the shoulder restraints (harnesses) that were on the Raptor clones. Hopefully they are not too uncomfortable. Edited August 29, 2019 by Gyrotron

Gyrotron
Do we know if this ride would be open for Holiday in the Park? It is on the side of the park that stays open for HITP, so I’m assuming yes.

I know Congo needs a lot of TLC, but I'm glad it's staying. It's one of the few rides I can still ride after my surgery.

29yrswithaGApass
I would imagine it will be part of the HITP lineup. They may need to put a Santa hat on him though!
Gyrotron
It will be the 6th tallest ride at the park, behind Kingda Ka (456 ft), Nitro (230 ft), El Toro (181 ft), Green Lantern (154 ft), and Bizarro (142 ft). It will also have the second steepest drop at the park of 87° behind Kingda Ka at 90°. I am wondering how many inversions it has - I expected 3, but the wording of the press release has me confused. Even though this isn’t as large as some of the other coasters in the park, it will likely be considered one of the best (if not the best) coasters in the park. 29yrswithaGApass
Here is an odd little tidbit that I am not sure they were counting on: - Jersey Devil will be the park's 6th highest coaster (Kingda Ka, Nitro, El Toro, Green Lantern, Bizarro, and JD) - Jersey Devil will be the park's 6th longest coaster (Nitro, El Toro, Green Lantern, Bizarro, Kingda Ka, and JD) - Jersey Devil will be the park's 6th fastest coaster (Kingda Ka, Nitro, El Toro, Green Lantern, Bizarro, and JD) Interesting stats (6-6-6) for a roller coaster themed to the Jersey Devil!
Gyrotron
I just saw the POV video they posted to their announcement page. It’s a great ride! The MCBR barely slows the train, the fall off of that into the over-bank is going to be wild.

mattkopp23
I am very impressed with this ride! The wait was long, but it was well worth it. Also very surprised about 4 trains!!! So glad we are finally the standout park for a year!
Mr.Six
I’ve known about these plans for awhile, and I’m still blown away. Six Flags Great Adventure now has arguably one of the Best Top 2s in the World.
BigMak
Any idea which kid's rides will be removed or relocated?
mattkopp23
@29yrswithaGApassSince you have a good relationship with the park, were the letters from all the teasers supposed to unscramble to: YES, RMC? I loved the teaser campaign the park put together. It created so much excitement and matched the excitement I now have for this beast of a ride. EasternThrills
They mentioned the JD Being the 14th coaster in the park, so with RRR, I wonder if this means that the ride will be relocated somewhere else.

It looks to me like the whole ride could fit south of the Seaport without removing anything. With the Jersey Devil Coaster being such a contrast in theme to Seaport, however, I can't imagine the path to the coaster coming from there. It's hard to imagine such a theme being in a kids section, regardless. Either Seaport will have its rides moved and the area rethemed/remade entirely, or they'll use the fright-fest trail that's usually a smoking section to make a new queue and the ride will be surrounded by trees to be "alone" in the park. All just my theory, though.
Medusa42
This looks great and it looks like something that will be cloned at other parks.
Nitr0o
I highly doubt that Seaport will be staying, but if it does maybe that just means they'll revamp it next year idk. But I am so excited for this ride, I wonder how loading will be. We will be able to pick our car?
