Yoshi
Sounds like some good ideas, for ride #10 they could pick up Dorney's Balloon Race really cheap, only $50,000 http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=1427
warnerleroy
I know and its close too so its almost no hassle to get! why not get it for 2011! We can still get it in time
Yankees99
I agree about bringing back the flats. THAT is what made GA fabulous after it opened with rides like the Pretty Monster, Musik Express, Enterprise, Roundup, Calypso, etc. Yes, times change. But you want to strike a balance between the old and new that keeps the people coming. Out here, we have Magic Mountain, Disney and Knotts. I always recommend people go to Knotts because that's where there's a terrific mixture of rides.
ThemeParkRider
I went there a couple years ago. You right! They also have real family coasters.
Yankees99
In the Los Angeles area, in my opinion, Knott's Berry Farm is the closest comparison I can make to Great Adventure of yesteryear. Quality roller coasters and an excellent assortment of flat rides. Not to mention that they have the best chicken on the West Coast. YUM! The Master
Except for the coasters, GAdv would be a joke of a park. Sadly I don't think GAdv ever intends to install new flats anytime soon. They just want to focus on big coasters and cut back on anything noncoaster except for outside vendors. GAdv sold Musik Express and gutted the sim theater, the park is almost nothing but coasters now like SFMM.
Yoshi
That seemed to be Shaprio's plan since so much was removed or closed and only 2 rides were added (Big Red Planes, Dark Knight) the whole time they were in control (I don't count anything from 2006 since that was from Burke) and that was with their supposedly being them going after families too. Hopefully the new management will correct that. Wasn't the sim theater supposed to be our originally 2011 attraction, some kind of new upcharge simulator? I can tell you they WANT to add classic flat rides and it's just a case of needing to allow the time to plan and budget for them. The current management is doing the bets they can with what was given tot hem by past management. They really do understand the park's current shortcomings and are working hard to address them. Wasn't the sim theater supposed to be our originally 2011 attraction, some kind of new upcharge simulator? It was and it was a bad decision from the old management. Unfortunately by the time the new management came in and made the changes and gave us Green Lantern, the theater had already been gutted. It's still ripe for a future attraction and they hope to have something in there in the coming seasons.

This is the same excuse we get every time the park management changes. Blame the past management and continue to make the same mistakes. They need to stop making excuses and start making changes. GAcoaster
Be that as it may, it's the truth. Unfortunately it always takes time and more than anything MONEY to make things happen. Until they can allocate proper funds they have to make the best of what they have.
ThemeParkRider
^ And this is a hard time for the park, no matter what management is operating it. It will take a while untill we hear about an upcoming flat ride, won't it?
gafreak
im willing to bet you will see new flats next year, not a huge war on lines ordeal but maybe 2 or 3 from other parks, a scrambler, the bumper cars and possibly some sort of swings
SFGAdv10
The park should at least get a swing ride. They are an amusement park staple but SFGAdv doesn't have one. Same with the Scrambler. At least get a new one of each or refurbish one of them.
Yankees99
This has turned into a very debatable subject, which is good. I was talking with somebody I know back East who I went to GA with several times when we were kids. He now brings his family there (every 2-3 years) and he too doesn't see the variety the park used to offer. I just looked at the 2011 map. Practically every corner you turn, there's a roller coaster. If they ever opt to get more flats back, then they'll have higher attendance marks, which is what the company (any company) wants. It's all about profit. The more variety you have, the more people walk through those turnstiles.
CHILLERLC1
Our Musik Express looked grungy. Actually I'm over that whole color scheme of a ride that looks rather Doo Wop. The colors are common amongst Musik Express flats. I agree it's a tough time for a park just coming off the chain's bankruptcy about a year or two ago. They have to have a good roll of earnings first and pad the reserves up. Edited March 12, 2011 by CHILLERLC1
The Master
Hopefully this management will make better changes than Shaprio. Personally I think Shaprio had some crazy ideas that did more harm than good.
MarioSonic94
Here's my picks. 1.Intamin Drop Tower 2. HUSS Breakdance (where the Teepee used to be) 3. Classic wave swinger 4. Musik Express 5. Intamin Looping Starship 6. Antique Car ride 7. Train ride 8. New simulator ride
sixflagsdude101
we already have a waveswinger. its called skyscreamer
29yrswithaGApass
^ There are plenty of people who loved the Flying Wave that won't go near the SkyScreamer.
Chiller
^ They both may be swings, but they are completely different in a lot of ways. Sky Screamer is a lot more intense and thrilling. That's like saying a drop tower and our parachutes are the same. They may both drop, but they are completely different.
Guest Moonracker7
We need to see another enterprise and music express ride, as I put them in my plan that costs a fortune unite Adventure ally and lakefront into one called boardwalk (the current would become the hotel access to park and a new picnic grove themed to dream street which would cover the left side of fountain, boardwalk would cover right) because old country has no meaning to the park because they no longer do Oktoberfest. RC98
An Enterprise, a Breakdance, a classic wave swinger, a Zamperla Air Race, and a Frisbee-type ride are the ones I would most want to see. To me Jolly Roger is similar enough to a Music Express. In my dreams Jumpin' Jack Flash would return but that won't happen.
Yoshi
^ There are plenty of people who loved the Flying Wave that won't go near the SkyScreamer. I'm one of those people. I used to like Flying Wave and still haven't tried SkyScreamer and not sure if I will. I don't mind heights in general and even being at the top of Kingda Ka doesn't bother me (especially since it's only for a few seconds) but being suspended in the air at that height in just what's basically a 2 person bench is something I'm hesitant to try. MarioSonic94
we already have a waveswinger. its called skyscreamer I mean a traditional Zierer/Zamperla swing ride. SkyScreamer's fun and all, but I still prefer classic swingers.
